INTENDED OR COINCIDENCE?

As a Dollywood employee was cleaning up in Pigeon Forge after the fire, they happened upon this small page from a Bible. It is, to me, VERY ironic. Do you believe in irony or perhaps it was left as a message. It is a passage from Joel 1:19-20.  You make your own decision. I am only the messenger.

Day 2 - The Immaculate Conception Novena
(Audio/Video Version)
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O most pure Virgin Mary conceived without sin, from the very first instant, you were entirely immaculate.  O glorious Mary full of grace, you are the mother of my God – the Queen of Angels and of men. I humbly venerate you as the chosen mother of my Savior, Jesus Christ.
The Prince of Peace and the Lord of Lords chose you for the singular grace and honor of being His beloved mother. By the power of His Cross, He preserved you from all sin. Therefore, by His power and love, I have hope and bold confidence in your prayers for my holiness and salvation.
I pray that your prayers will bring me to imitate your holiness and submission to Jesus and the Divine Will.
Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Now, Queen of Heaven, I beg you to beg my Savior to grant me these requests…
(Mention your intentions)
My holy Mother, I know that you were obedient to the will of God. In making this petition, I know that God’s will is more perfect than mine. So, grant that I may receive God’s grace with humility like you.

As my final request, I ask that you pray for me to increase in faith in our risen Lord; I ask that you pray for me to increase in hope in our risen Lord; I ask that you pray for me to increase in love for the risen Jesus!
Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

LECTIO DIVINA FOR THE FIRST WEEK OF ADVENT

Lectio Divina for the
First Week of Advent

We begin our prayer:
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the
Holy Spirit. Amen.
Stir up your power, we pray, O Lord, and come,
that with you to protect us, we may find rescue
from the pressing dangers of our sins,
and with you to set us free,
we may be found worthy of salvation.
Who live and reign with God the Father
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

(Collect for Friday of the First Week
of Advent)

Reading (Lectio)

Read the following Scripture two or three times.
Matthew 24:37-44

Jesus said to his disciples: “As it was in the
days of Noah, so it will be at the coming
of the Son of Man. In those days before
the flood, they were eating and drinking,
marrying and giving in marriage, up to the
day that Noah entered the ark. They did
not know until the flood came and carried
them all away. So will it be also at the
coming of the Son of Man. Two men will
be out in the field; one will be taken, and
one will be left. Two women will be grinding
at the mill; one will be taken, and one
will be left. Therefore, stay awake! For you
do not know on which day your Lord will
come. Be sure of this: if the master of the
house had known the hour of night when
the thief was coming, he would have stayed
awake and not let his house be broken into.
So too, you also must be prepared, for at
an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man
will come.”

Meditation (Meditatio)

After the reading, take some time to reflect in silence on
one or more of the following questions:
• What word or words in this passage caught
your attention?
• What in this passage comforted you?
• What in this passage challenged you?
If practicing lectio divina as a family or in a group,
after the reflection time, invite the participants to share
their responses.

Contemplation (Contemplatio)

Read the scripture passage again, followed by
this reflection:
How does this passage connect with the experience of
your daily life?

In those days before the flood, they were eating and
drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the
day that Noah entered the ark. How do my daily activities
reflect my call to Christian discipleship? Do I follow
Christ willingly and wholeheartedly? In what ways
do I delay taking the steps I need to take to become a
missionary disciple?

Therefore, stay awake! What aspects of my life allowed
me to be lulled into indifference or laziness?
Whatsteps can I take this week to be more attentive to the
needs of others and more faithful to God’s call?
So too, you also must be prepared, for at an hour you
do not expect, the Son of Man will come.
How am I preparing for the coming of the Lord—both at
Christmas and at the end of time? How can I prepare
myself to be a missionary disciple who helps others
encounter Christ?

Prayer (Oratio)

Read the scripture passage one more time.
Bring to theLord the praise, petition, or
thanksgiving that the Word inspires in you.
After all have had a chance to make their prayer, all
recite the Lord’s Prayer and the following:

Closing Prayer:

On that day it will be said:
“Behold our God, to whom we looked to
save us! This is the Lord for whom we looked;
let us rejoice and be glad that he has
saved us!”
(Isaiah 25:9)

THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION NOVENA - DAY 1

PrayMoreNovenas.com
Peace be with you!
The Feast of the Immaculate Conception is an important day for us to reflect on the Blessed Virgin Mary's life. Her life is the ideal example of the Christian life lived for God.

So we will strive during this novena to imitate Mary, and especially her profound love of God.

To begin, let's pray for all of those who suffer material poverty and go unnoticed, and un-cared for.

Let's pray not only that God will provide for them, but that we may also provide for them.

Let's also pray that we may not take anything for granted in our lives.

You can post your prayer intentions here, and we invite you to pray for the other intentions you see there:

REVELATIONS 14:14-19

Revelations 14:14-19

I, John, looked and there was a white cloud,
and sitting on the cloud one who looked like a son of man,
with a gold crown on his head and a sharp sickle in his hand.
Another angel came out of the temple,
crying out in a loud voice to the one sitting on the cloud,
“Use your sickle and reap the harvest,
for the time to reap has come,
because the earth’s harvest is fully ripe.”
So the one who was sitting on the cloud swung his sickle over the earth,
and the earth was harvested.

Then another angel came out of the temple in heaven
who also had a sharp sickle.
Then another angel came from the altar, who was in charge of the fire,
and cried out in a loud voice
to the one who had the sharp sickle,
“Use your sharp sickle and cut the clusters from the earth’s vines,
for its grapes are ripe.”
So the angel swung his sickle over the earth and cut the earth’s vintage.
He threw it into the great wine press of God’s fury.

THE DIVINE ANTIDOTE

How God Purifies us for Union with Him

by Anthony Mullen
Our whole purpose is to go back to God in Love, since we came forth from Him in Love.  Now this journey can only occur through movements of Grace through the Holy Spirit, the Sanctifier.  God so desires a complete sharing in His Divine Life, but He pours out this Grace only in direct proportion to how much we are willing to give ourselves to Him.  When we desire to begin this road to Love, we must be purified... as our self love, ego, and inclination to sin and comfort have overwhelmed our faculties (memory, understanding and will) to the point that we are blind to just how far we have moved away from God and His purpose for us.  God purifies us through the "night of the sense" (renouncing all pleasure not for the glory of God) and the "night of the spirit" (renouncing even consolation in spiritual things), so that our only desire and action is for God alone.  Now, God knows how incredibly frail and selfish we are, and thus the great help we must receive from Him, or there is NO chance we will achieve this state of union with Him.  In fact, the more unworthy and impossible it seems to us, the more He will do it through pure Grace, if we desire and trust Him alone to do it!  We must recognize and admit our littleness, poverty and true nothingness in order for Him to stoop down to our frailty!
This IS the Great Grace of the Flame of Love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary!  God now desires that His creatures are finally able to do this in great numbers, not just  the handful of great saints like John of the Cross, Theresa of Avila and Theresa of the Child Jesus and Holy Face. God chose Elizabeth Kindelmann precisely to prove to us that this has nothing to do with our merits, but is a pure Gift of God through His Mother's power and intercession, which He has bestowed on Mary for her faithfulness to all the Grace God gave to her,  and which she obtained by her pleading through the Merits of her Son's Wounds.
Our Lord taught Elizabeth Kindelmann that He will do this if we trust Him to do it!  He stated to her: "The only thing of value in My eyes is for you to entrust yourself to Me with complete confidence."  When Elizabeth realized how much sacrifice and renouncement of self God was asking of her (and of us, although our renouncement will be tailored to what God wants from each of us, which is different than Elizabeth), she says: "These were harsh words for my reason. This is why asked Him...'Am I capable of doing this?'" Our Lord responded with THE answer, which we must take to heart and ponder every time we feel incapable or feel we have failed Him: "You must only will it; leave the rest to Me."
This is the great insight, the great Gift to the little ones!  God will do this for each one of us if we never give up trusting Him and simply will it!  He so wants to do this in each one of us and will continue to pour out the grace of the Flame of Love of His Mother's Immaculate Heart, if we will it!  We must truly ask, truly beg for the one thing alone...trust in His Infinite Merciful Love!  Lord, this IS IMPOSSIBLE to me, but to You, all things are possible!  Lord, My savior, My adorable Jesus, give this trust to your littlest one, so I will fulfill Your desire and achieve this Great Union with You as Your Mother did, and as she now so wants to help me achieve through Your Infinite Mercy.  Please I beg You, let me never give up trying. I do trust You will do this, and I recognize I am not worthy...but I am still your little child!  When I inevitably falter, You will gently lift me up and allow me to say, Jesus I trust in You alone and I will never give up trusting You!  Fiat! Fiat!  Fiat!

ARE YOU READY?

Luke 17:20-25

Asked by the Pharisees when the Kingdom of God would come,
Jesus said in reply,
“The coming of the Kingdom of God cannot be observed,
and no one will announce, ‘Look, here it is,’ or, ‘There it is.’
For behold, the Kingdom of God is among you.”

Then he said to his disciples,
“The days will come when you will long to see
one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it.
There will be those who will say to you,
‘Look, there he is,’ or ‘Look, here he is.’
Do not go off, do not run in pursuit.
For just as lightning flashes
and lights up the sky from one side to the other,
so will the Son of Man be in his day.
But first he must suffer greatly and be rejected by this generation.”

With all of the turmoil, both great and small, that goes on in this world every day in mind, I have spoken with many people who mostly agree that we are in the End Times. This provokes my curiosity and much thought.

Our answer is found in the above scripture. We are given "hints" through scriptures and in the book of Revelation to try and discern for ourselves when Jesus will return for his flock.  HOWEVER, we are told directly in the conversation with Christ and his disciples that it will not be something of the nature of "look, here comes Jesus from the heavens."

No matter how hard anyONE tries, God's intelligence is .... hm .... a good word .... maybe beyond our reasoning that He would never allow us to know the time nor the hour. We were told our Savior would come "like a thief in the night".  Which makes me want to say, always say your prayers and ask forgiveness for sins of that day before you go to sleep each night. Me, I fall asleep while praying many nights. Perhaps this is a blessing - let's say that it is!

Resign yourself to live; live as Godly as possible; ask forgiveness and for His Graces and Mercies; pray the Rosary as often as possible; and rely through prayer on the intercessions of the Blessed Mother and the Saints.

Sometimes, I find I am in a state of mind that I look at the heavens with great wonder about the Second Coming. Sometimes I want Him to come now; sometimes I feel I need more time. Perhapss that is a giveaway that I need more time to come to a complete state of Grace. I know I do not want to be left behind.

I think of my family, all of them, and all of the friends I know and love. I want them all to go with me, or should I say I want to go with all of them, all of us at the same time. But you cannot save anyone; you are responsible for yourself only and each person is responsible for their own salvation. Again, I think and sometimes just wonder .... are they ready? Am I ready? Are YOU ready?

Lovingly in Jesus Christ,
ABBEY

THE GRACE OF GOD

Titus 2:11-14King James Version (KJV)

11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

I believe this verse if fairly straightforward and understandable. However, it is so easy to get off track.
Working on your faith and your religion daily should become second nature to leading a Christian life. We all mess up and always regret it later. Forgiveness is a very big deal in heaven and on earth. Just ask for it and it shall be yours and you can move forward worry free that you have done the right thing.
As the scripture says, we are ALL living this sober, righteous and godly life so in the faith that, in our hope, we will witness the appearing the of God and Jesus, the Savior.
What he did for you a couple of thousand years before you were born was pretty big stuff. The life we are asked to live is such a happy one, full of love for family and humanity.
Avoid negative discussion and negative peope. If you're like me, you'll probably pop off with something and offend everyone. Just move on and leave it behind you.
We have received MANY promises from Jesus that were instilled in Him by His Father, God. I believe in ALL of them!! It will be a happy day for me when I finally meet my Savior!
Lovingly in Christ,
ABBEY

"I AM LEAVING YOU WITH A GIFT"

#Jesus #Christ #Bible #blessed #Christian #BibleVerseOfTheDay #Church #Scripture #BibleVerse #BibleS...

Peace be unto you, dear brothers and sisters in Christ!

In these most difficult times all around the world, take pity on those who do not know Jesus or the Word of God! For those of us who are of Christian faith are as plagued as anyone with bad times. The difference is that we have a place, a King above all Kings to whom we can run and find shelter and peace.

We will never find the kind of peace on earth that exists in heaven. Even though He told us Himself to not be troubled or afraid, it is near impossible in varying situations. We are human and we feel hurt and torn when things occur to us that could bring us down.  If not for Christ and God, to whom we flee in times of trouble, it would certainly be a very woeful life. Many people would probably seek to end their own lives to escape such turmoil. They are the weak in spirit and we cannot and should not judge them. It is one of the most selfish things a human being can do; however, many suffer so much of which we are unaware, and therefore, pray for their peace and that Christ will accept them into heaven.

I've lived what I refer to as five lives. Each one was different. My life here where I am now has lasted for 46 years. In all of these times, I have suffered much heartbreak due to my own stupidity. But every downfall ended when, with time, I becam upright again, and I was then able to laugh at myself for being in such a dreary state over such small matters.

I have been a Catholic since 1985, but it was 20 years later that I finally found my God. He first brought me to my knees, which is a good place to pray, and then he allowed me to come Home to Him in my prayer, way of life and the way that I live among others.

Oh, I am not without sufficient troubles and they, too, have brought me to my knees. It was not until one day my husband said "you need to get on your knees and thank God for what you have [not to worry about what you do not have]."  I decided to take him up on this task, and I found myself on my knees. I began a recitation of each and every blessing for which I owe him my life. Indeed, I cried a river as I held onto the book full of names of those who have asked me to pray for them. I cried a river and was humbled and contrite. I was ashamed. I have a wonderful family around me and they are at the top, just under God and Christ.  As I stopped my prayer and stayed there in my humility, God spoke to me again: "Why do you weep, my child?" I didn't have to answer; He already knew. "Have you not known for so long how much I love you? You are my child and I will always provide for and protect you. But you must give up your worldly worries to me. Do you not know that I already have all of this in my hands for you? Go now and weep no more, for I love you with my greatest heavenly love." "Amen!," I said.

It is difficult when a sudden tragedy of sorts hits our lives that we immediately begin worrying about how to undo this tangled trial. But, we all must learn that the FIRST thought should be to find a quiet place and pray. Pray until your heart has emptied itself of all your worries. Think nothing of time, only that this is YOUR time with HIM!

We are going to need all of the trust and faith that we can muster in the future, so be ready for whatever comes your way and know that our Father in heaven already has the outcome planned for you. But he expects your faith and trust in return. No too much to ask, is it?

Lovingly in Christ,
ABBEY

.... AND THE END WILL COME.

Because of the increase of wickedness,
the love of most will grow cold.
But He who stands firm to the end will be saved,
And this gospel of the Kingdom
will be preached in the whole
world as a testimony to all nations,
and then the end will come
Matthew 24 - 12

~*~

Sadly, I run into people and overhear conversations wherever I go that dishearten me. These conversations about the world, about the election, and so forth, draw me to the conclusion that the above scripture is dead on.

I won't/can't point out specific cross-sections of people. Suffice to say, I find a lot of it, even among those who proclaim their love of Jesus Christ. I find myself thinking as I hear such statements, "are you REALLY completely invested in God and Jesus Christ?"

Sometimes, one may respond to another against what is truly heartfelt and say just what that person wants to hear. In that light, you are compromising your salvation. Jesus faced crucifixion, never once through the scorgning at the pillar, nor his crucifixion that followed. Did you see the movie "The Passion"? I felt it was the strongest, most honest view of what actually occurred. And now, I see Christ on the cross and my heart bleeds for my sins and forgiveness.

Are you willing, and this is the extreme at this point in time, to stand and declare that you are a Christian with someone ready to chop off your head or shoot you dead? There is no question in my mind that I will NEVER deny that I am a Christian. If I am killed, so what? I will immediately be led to heaven and there will be no memory of the sting of my death. Will I be afraid? Of course! Who would not be afraid if they are left in a desolate world and not among those who went Home with Jesus?  This is why it has been burned into our minds that Jesus is the only road to God!

Just remember, be ready 24/7, and if you are faced with being a target for death, your last words should be in prayer to Jesus.  I am certain of my heart; are you? I can't help but look with anticipation every day for the Second Coming of Christ.

LOVINGLY IN JESUS CHRIST,
ABBEY ♥
