DIVINE MERCY NOVENA - DAY 7

Peace be with you!

You've made it to day 7 of the Divine Mercy Novena! Pray the novena prayers with us today while we celebrate God's mercy!

Let's pray for unity in the Church and the human family today.

Here are the prayers for today:

Day 7 - The Divine Mercy Novena

"Today bring to Me THE SOULS WHO ESPECIALLY VENERATE AND GLORIFY MY MERCY, and immerse them in My mercy. These souls sorrowed most over my Passion and entered most deeply into My spirit. They are living images of My Compassionate Heart. These souls will shine with a special brightness in the next life. Not one of them will go into the fire of hell. I shall particularly defend each one of them at the hour of death."

Most Merciful Jesus, whose Heart is Love Itself, receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who particularly extol and venerate the greatness of Your mercy. These souls are mighty with the very power of God Himself. In the midst of all afflictions and adversities they go forward, confident of Your mercy; and united to You, O Jesus, they carry all mankind on their shoulders. These souls will not be judged severely, but Your mercy will embrace them as they depart from this life.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls who glorify and venerate Your greatest attribute, that of Your fathomless mercy, and who are enclosed in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. These souls are a living Gospel; their hands are full of deeds of mercy, and their hearts, overflowing with joy, sing a canticle of mercy to You, O Most High! I beg You O God:

Show them Your mercy according to the hope and trust they have placed in You. Let there be accomplished in them the promise of Jesus, who said to them that during their life, but especially at the hour of death, the souls who will venerate this fathomless mercy of His, He, Himself, will defend as His glory.

Amen.

THE DIVINE MERCY NOVENA - DAY 6

Peace be with you!

I love how we get to celebrate the resurrection for the entire Easter season!

As we continue to celebrate the resurrection, let us pray for an increased hope in our own resurrection in Jesus. Let's pray that we can endure the troubles and pains of this life for the sake of the resurrection of the body.

Pray with us for hope today...

Here are the prayers for today:
Day 6 - The Divine Mercy Novena

"Today bring to Me THE MEEK AND HUMBLE SOULS AND THE SOULS OF LITTLE CHILDREN, and immerse them in My mercy. These souls most closely resemble My Heart. They strengthened Me during My bitter agony. I saw them as earthly Angels, who will keep vigil at My altars. I pour out upon them whole torrents of grace. Only the humble soul is capable of receiving My grace. I favor humble souls with My confidence."

Most Merciful Jesus, You yourself have said, "Learn from Me for I am meek and humble of heart." Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart all meek and humble souls and the souls of little children. These souls send all heaven into ecstasy and they are the heavenly Father's favorites. They are a sweet-smelling bouquet before the throne of God; God Himself takes delight in their fragrance. These souls have a permanent abode in Your Most Compassionate Heart, O Jesus, and they unceasingly sing out a hymn of love and mercy.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon meek souls, upon humble souls, and upon little children who are enfolded in the abode which is the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. These souls bear the closest resemblance to Your Son. Their fragrance rises from the earth and reaches Your very throne. Father of mercy and of all goodness, I beg You by the love You bear these souls and by the delight You take in them: Bless the whole world, that all souls together may sing out the praises of Your mercy for endless ages.

Amen.

Thank you for praying with us!

THE DIVINE ANTIDOTE

MARCH 29, 2016 – EASTER WEEK – TUESDAY – MAGDALEN SEES JESUS

By Editor on Mar 29, 2016 02:00 am
(John 20:11-18)
Prayer: Jesus, fill me with Magdalen’s love and devotion to you.
Imagination: (Picture Magdalen at the tomb with Jesus.)
Context:
This is a very rich text, containing many teachings for both devotion and doctrine. Magdalen stays at the empty tomb, thinking the body has been stolen. Jesus appears and reveals who he is. She grasps Jesus but Jesus tells her not to hold him because he is ascending to the Father. A new relationship now exists. Jesus is preparing the way to heaven.
Gospel Text: (Read slowly, possibly aloud)
After the disciples left, Magdalene remained at the tomb, weeping. When she looked into the tomb, she saw two angels dressed in white, one at the head and the other at the feet where the body of Jesus had been. They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said, “Because they have taken away my Lord and I do not know where they have placed him.”
Turning around, she saw Jesus standing there, but did not know it was he. Jesus said, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you looking for? Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have taken him, tell me where you have put him and I will take him away.”
Jesus said to her, “Mary”. She replied, “Rabboni (meaning “Master”). Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to my Father. Go to my brothers and tell them, “I am ascending to my Father and to your Father, to my God and your God.” Mary went and told the disciples, “I have seen the Lord and these are the things he has told me.”
Thoughts: (Read all. Ponder those that attract you.)
  1. Magdalen’s love is greater than the two apostles. She alone stays at the tomb.
  2. She listens to her heart, not to her head.
  3. She acts quite irrationally. She sees angels but doesn’t question why they are standing in the tomb.
  4. She sees a man and asks him to return the body (if he has stolen it.)
  5. Her physical eyes do not recognize Jesus because his glorified body has been transformed.
  6. However, she recognizes his voice. Jesus, the good Shepherd, calls her by name.
  7. She embraces Jesus as if nothing has changed, but he is ascending to the Father.
  8. Everything is new. The disciples are now Jesus’ brothers and sisters, and God is their Father.
  9. Magdalen becomes the Apostle to the Apostles – telling them that she had seen the Lord.
Affections: (When one touches your heart, use your own words.)
  1. Where are you, Lord?
  2. I am searching for you with all my heart.
  3. I embrace you, Jesus.
  4. You are ascending so that I can ascend with you.
  5. Let my tears prepare for your coming.
  6. Jesus, call me by name.
  7. O Jesus, you have made God my Father.
  8. Make me an apostle. I will tell all my friends about your rising.
Resolution: (Possibly you might want to make your own)
  1. I will ask Jesus for Magdalene’s generosity.
  2. I will listen for Jesus to call me by name.
Thought for Today: (To recall your meditation)
They have taken away my Lord and I do not know where they have placed him.

NOVENA OF DIVINE MERCY - DAY 4

Peace be with you!

It's time to celebrate... Easter!
That's right, we are in the Easter Octave. Easter is so huge and important that one feast day can't contain it... it needs eight! Let's continue to pray the novena prayers today while we celebrate God's mercy!

Here are the prayers for today:
Day 4 - The Divine Mercy Novena

"Today bring to Me THOSE WHO DO NOT BELIEVE IN GOD AND THOSE WHO DO NOT YET KNOW ME. I was thinking also of them during My bitter Passion, and their future zeal comforted My Heart. Immerse them in the ocean of My mercy."
Most compassionate Jesus, You are the Light of the whole world. Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who do not believe in God and of those who as yet do not know You. Let the rays of Your grace enlighten them that they, too, together with us, may extol Your wonderful mercy; and do not let them escape from the abode which is Your Most Compassionate Heart.
Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls of those who do not believe in You, and of those who as yet do not know You, but who are enclosed in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. Draw them to the light of the Gospel. These souls do not know what great happiness it is to love You. Grant that they, too, may extol the generosity of Your mercy for endless ages.
Amen.

Thank you for praying with us!

THIS DAY'S.....

This Day's Thought from The Ranch
O Christ, I see thy crown of thorns in every eye, thy bleeding, naked, wounded body in every soul; thy death liveth in every memory; thy crucified Person is embalmed in every affection; thy pierced feet are bathed in everyone’s tears; and it is my privilege to enter with thee into every soul.
Thomas Traherne

This Day's Verse
While he was still speaking, there came a crowd, and the man called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them.  He drew near to Jesus to kiss him; but Jesus said to him, “Judas, would you betray the Son of man with a kiss?”  And when those who were about him saw what would follow, they said, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”  And one of them struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his right ear.  But Jesus said, “No more of this!” And he touched his ear and healed him.  Then Jesus said to the chief priests and officers of the temple and elders, who had come out against him, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs?  When I was with you day after day in the temple, you did not lay hands on me.  But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.”  Then they seized him and led him away, bringing him into the high priest’s house.
Luke 22:47-54
The Revised Standard Version

This Day's Smile
Immanuel, God with us in our nature, in our sorrow, in our lifework, in our punishment, in our grave, and now with us, or rather we with Him, in resurrection, ascension, triumph, and Second Advent splendor.
C. H. Spurgeon

WASHING OF THE FEET

John 13:6-10 (NIV)
He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?”
Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”
“No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.”
Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.”
“Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!”
10 Jesus answered, “Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you.” 11 For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not every one was clean.
~*~
If you have been following our Lord's Passion every day, then you may have a small hole of sadness in your heart, for you know what will happen to Jesus tomorrow.
Jesus has already pointed to his betrayer, who has gone to sell his secret for a bag of coins. Now Jesus prepares for the washing of the feet. Simon Peter is abhorred that Jesus wants to wash his feet and make him clean. When he says "Unless I wash you, you have no part with me," and also that Peter would later understand why Jesus must wash his feet.
This because Jesus knows that in four days, he will give his church on earth unto Peter, our first Pope. Peter will humbly accept and The Church has grown all around the world and is strong and vibrant today. This is why we consider every Pope to be a direct descendant of Peter. The church has been led by many and it is still living and breathing.
Keep yourself clean, not just your feet or your body, but your soul. Keep it clean so that you may share in the glorious bounty of God in His Kingdom when your day comes for judgment.
Each man and woman will be judged individually for the good that they did and for the bad. Work on yourself. I know that each one of us can find things in our lives that we need to change in order to cleanse ourselves for our meeting with Jesus.
I say to you, live with a clean heart, a clean mind, and a clean soul. Surely then shall you reap the reward awaiting you in heaven! What a glorious day that will be.
Please keep in mind the countdown to the crucifixion and the Risen Lord on Sunday. I feel sadness for what a man, who was the most gentle creature that God ever created, must endure FOR US AND OUR SINS FOR ALL TIME! To ignore this fact could make the difference in whether you will live eternally in heaven or hades. Choose wisely!
Lovingly in our Savior, Jesus Christ,

THE BETRAYAL

As this Holy Week progresses, we are on a journey with Jesus, feeling his Passion and his Sorrow. Surely God gives him the information that he must impart to his Disciples. It is a very sad evening that Jesus must identify his betrayer.

MARCH 22, 2016 – TUESDAY – HOLY WEEK – JUDAS ISCARIOT

By Editor on Mar 22, 2016 02:00 am
(John 13:36-38)
Prayer: Jesus, may I always be loyal to you.
Imagination: (Picture Jesus at the Last Supper.)
Context:
Jesus often spoke about his betrayal. Up to now however, Jesus never revealed his betrayer or said openly that he would come from the twelve. Now he must focus on this issue. So, Jesus reveals Judas as the one and determines the time by telling Judas to leave the Upper Room.
Gospel Text: (Read slowly, possibly aloud.)
Reclining at table with his disciples, Jesus grew troubled in spirit and said, “Amen, amen I say to you. One of you will betray me. “The disciples looked at one another, puzzled as to whom he could mean. Now the disciple whom Jesus loved was leaning on his breast. Simon Peter beckoned to him and said, “Who is he speaking about?” The disciple asked, “Lord, who is it?” Jesus answered, “The one to whom I give some food after dipping it in the dish.” He dipped it and gave it to Judas Iscariot, son of Simon.
After receiving the morsel, Satan entered into Judas. Jesus said, “What you have to do, do quickly.” The others at table did not know Jesus’ purpose. Having received the morsel, Judas went out immediately. It was night.
Thoughts: (Possibly you might want to make your own.)
  1. What a tragic story. Judas, called to be close to Jesus, becomes the knife in Jesus’ heart.
  2. Jesus often spoke about this moment. Now, it could not be postponed.
  3. Because of their simplicity, the other apostles worry if it could be themselves.
  4. The Beloved Disciple is so close to Jesus’ heart that Jesus tell him who his betrayer is.
  5. Jesus is still in control. He determines the time of the betrayal by telling Judas to act now.
  6. ‘It was night” everywhere – in Judas’ soul, in Jesus’ broken heart and in world history. This was the darkest moment.
Affections: (When one touches your heart, use your own words.)
  1. O Jesus, by your grace, my life will not be a tragic story.
  2. You call me to greatness. You have prepared a place for me at your table.
  3. Give me the simplicity of the apostles who were loyal to you.
  4. I will place my head on your breast and experience the love in your Sacred Heart.
  5. O Jesus, to depart from you is the darkest night. Hold on to me.
Resolutions: (Possibly you might want to make your own.)
  1. I will value my friendship with Jesus above every other prize.
  2. I will be faithful to my friends.
Thought for the day: (To recall your meditation)
One of you will betray me.

POSITIVE THOUGHTS

I suppose the best piece of advice I could give anyone is pretty simple:  get a life.  A real life, not the manic pursuit of the next promotion, the bigger paycheck, the larger house.  Do you think you'd care so very much about those things if you developed an aneurysm one afternoon, or found a lump in your breast while in the shower?

Get a life in which you notice the smell of salt water pushing itself on a breeze over the dunes, a life in which you stop and watch how a red-tailed hawk circles over a pond and a stand of pines.  Get a life in which you pay attention to the baby as she scowls with concentration when she tries to pick up a Cheerio with her thumb and first finger.

Turn off your cell phone.  Turn off your regular phone, for that matter.  Keep still.  Be present.

Get a life in which you are not alone.  Find people you love, and who love you.  And remember that love is not leisure, it is work.  Each time I look at my diploma, I remember that I am still a student, still learning every day to be human.  Send an e-mail.  Write a letter.  Kiss your mom.  Hug your dad.

Get a life in which you are generous.  Look around at the azaleas making fuchsia star bursts in spring; look at a full moon hanging silver in a black sky on a cold night.  And realize that life is glorious, and that you have no business taking it for granted.

Care so deeply about its goodness that you want to spread it around.  Take the money that you would have spent on beers in a bar and give it to charity.  Work in a soup kitchen.  Tutor a seventh-grader.

All of us want to do well.  But if we do not do good, too, then doing well will never be enough.

Life is short.  Remember that, too.

I've always known this.  Or almost always.  I've been living with mortality for decades, since my mother died of ovarian cancer when she was forty and I was nineteen.  And this is what I learned from that experience:  that knowledge of our own mortality is that greatest gift God ever gives us.

It is so easy to waste our lives:  our days, our hours, our minutes.  It is so easy to take for granted the pale new growth on an evergreen, the sheen of the limestone on Fifth Avenue, the color of our kids' eyes, the way the melody in a symphony rises and falls and disappears and rises again.  It is so easy to exist instead of live.

"YOU WILL NOT SEE ME, AND THEN YOU WILL"

This Day's Thought from The Ranch
O God, who for our redemption gave Your only begotten Son to the death of the cross, and by His glorious resurrection delivered us from the power of our enemy: grant us so to die daily to sin, that we may evermore live with Him in the joy of His resurrection.
Anglican Easter Prayer

This Day's Verse
“A little while, and you will see me no longer; and again a little while, and you will see me.”  So some of his disciples said to one another, “What is this that he says to us, ‘A little while, and you will not see me, and again a little while, and you will see me’; and, ‘because I am going to the Father’?”  So they were saying, “What does he mean by ‘a little while’?  We do not know what he is talking about.”  Jesus knew that they wanted to ask him, so he said to them, “Is this what you are asking yourselves, what I meant by saying, ‘A little while and you will not see me, and again a little while and you will see me’?  Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy.”
John 16:16-20
The English Standard Version

This Day's Smile
We are more sure to arise out of our graves than out of our beds.
Thomas Watson

RE: This Day's Verse

I don't know why, but as I read today's verse, I began to chuckle. For I and you know exactly what Jesus means: “A little while, and you will see me no longer; and again a little while, and you will see me.”

But as I often say about the Bible, imagine living in those times! Jesus was so complex that he often placed parables in his sermons to help people to understand where he was coming from. As in the above, the disciples are perplexed, as I am sure we would be. But we have that glorious book called The Holy Bible, and all things are made clear to us.

Inasmuch as we have a perfect 'guide' for our lives, why do we only go, say, a fourth of the way or half way in obeying God's rules? He even sent His only Son, by divine and immaculate conception so that he would help us to understand what we must do and how we must live our lives.

But still, some of you will begin a go at something and that little voice in your head says "Jesus would not approve", and then the devil on your shoulder says "Oh, it's such a small thing, go ahead and then Jesus will forgive you later", and so you go ahead and commit the sin.

I don't feel that most people realize the gravity and strength of Satan in our world and in our lives. People, he is alive and very strong. He will tempt you and sometimes you will follow and sometimes you will not. But one thing is clear to me from experience: Satan attacks the strongest of Jesus' followers the hardest!

But I have digressed (thank you, Holy Spirit!). We may read our Bibles and something just doesn't make sense. Thank goodness for the NIVs or else I would be as perplexed as the disciples at many points of the Bible.

Most of Jesus' words/quotes are found in the Gospels, especially the book of John. It is beautifully enlightening to read the words of our Lord spoken thousands of years ago.  I cannot stress it strongly enough - you MUST read, you MUST give proper thought, you MUST see what Jesus taught in his sermons all those years ago.

And the miracles! Imagine seeing a real miracle! The one that came to my mind first is the birth of a child. I can think of no better miracle that we see every day but take so much for granted than the creation and birth of a child. Hearts are breaking far and wide over abortion to innocent unborn. It won't ever end. But suffice to say, God will take care of it in time.

This writing has gone in all different directions, but I feel some good points have been made, and hopefully you will see and appreciate them.

Please, celebrate this most Holy Week with The Holy Spirit in your heart, for the Passion of Christ comes on Thursday and it should be a day completely devoted to Jesus in your thoughts and prayers. And on Sunday, HE WILL BE RISEN!  God bless and keep you unto Him. Thank God that in a little while, we WILL see Jesus again!!!

Lovingly in Jesus,

THE DIVINE ANTIDOTE

MARCH 18, 2016 – WEEK FIVE OF LENT – FRIDAY – MAKING HIMSELF GOD

By Editor on Mar 18, 2016 02:00 am
(John 10:31-39)
Prayer: O Jesus, you are truly God and truly man.
Imagination: (Picture Jesus teaching in the Temple)
Context:   The Jews understand clearly that Jesus is making himself equal to God. So they try to stone Jesus, claiming that he commits blasphemy. When Jesus preaches, the Jewish believes do not understand because they refuse to believe that he came from the Father.
Gospel Text: (Read slowly, possibly aloud)
The Jews picked up rocks to stone him. Jesus asked, “I have shown you many good works from my Father. For which of these are you trying to stone me?” The Jews replied, “We are not stoning you for a good work but for blasphemy. You, a man, are making yourself God.” Jesus answered, “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, “You are gods”? If scripture calls those gods to whom the word of God came, can you say that the one whom the Father has consecrated and sent into the world blasphemes because I said, “I am the Son of God”?
“If I do not perform the Father’s works, then do not believe me. However, if I perform them, even if you do not believe me, believe the works. In this way, you may realize that the Father is in me and I am in the Father”. They tried again to arrest him, but he escaped from their power.
Thoughts: (Read all. Ponder the ones that attract you).
  1. The story begins and ends with attempted violence against Jesus. His preaching has no effect upon the listeners.
  2. Jesus constantly stresses the central point. His works show that he is one with the Father.
  3. Jesus reveals new truths. If all who receive God’s words are, in some sense, called gods, then he, who was consecrated by the Father, certainly has the right to call himself “Son of God.”
  4. Jesus presents an “either-or”. If he performs the Father’s works, they should believe. If he does not, then they do not need to believe.
  5. Jesus always points to the same truth. “The Father is in me and I am in the Father.”
Affections: (When one touches your heart, use your own words)
  1. O Jesus, let your words change me.
  2. You always say to me, “Trust me, I am one with the Father”.
  3. How great are your works in me! How many changes come about when I open my heart to you.
  4. Thank you for making me a child of God.
  5. You are consecrated to the Father. Consecrate me, Jesus. I am Yours.
Resolutions: (Possibly you might want to make your own).
  1. I will ponder all that Jesus has done for me.
  2. I will meditate on Jesus making me a child of God.
Thought for the day: (To recall your meditation)
The Father is in me and I am in the Father.

ST. JOSEPH, HUSBAND OF MARY - PRAY FOR US

Peace be with you!

Thank you for joining us in praying the St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Novena!

Here at Pray More Novenas, at the end of every novena, we always pray the following as our final prayer.
Now, Let us pray...

Dear Lord Jesus, I have specific requests that may only partially fill the infinite needs and desires that are in my heart. I ask that You answer me not only for those requests but also for a greater reliance on You to satisfy the needs and desires that You have given me.

Please grant the prayers of all those who prayed this novena with me. Bless them with Your love and make them holy!

May I seek You with a sincere heart knowing that it will profit me nothing if I gain the whole world yet lose my soul.

So, help me to see Your good and gracious purpose in all my trials. Help me to see Your blessings in every day and help me to love You more.

Thank You for everything, Lord Jesus!

Amen.

With every single person you come into contact, you are either giving love or you're not.And based on what you give, that is what you receive.

Give love to others through kindness, encouragement, support, gratitude,or any good feeling , and it comes back to you multiplied in every area of your life.

Look for the things you love in a relationship more than you notice negative things and it will appear as if something incredible has happened to the other person.

You have to be happy to receive the happy versions of other people !

The force of love presents you with a whole array of Personal Emotional Trainers, disguised as everyday people, but they are all training you to choose love !

Life is presenting every person and circumstance to you so you can choose what you love and what you don't love. When you react to anything you are reacting with your feelings, and as you do,you are choosing it !

Changing the way you feel is easy compared to running around trying to change the circumstances of the outside world.Change your feelings and the outside circumstances will change !
