Reference: (Matthew 22:15-21)

Who of you remember the tale of Jesus and the coin?  It goes something like this:

There were two political groups in Israel.  One group worshipped Caesar; the others wanted independence. The Pharisees had hoped to trick Jesus by posing a question to him that would force him into taking one side or the other. The Herodians and their disciples approached Jesus and said,
"Master, we know you are truthful and teach God’s way sincerely. You seek no one’s favor and do not act out of human respect. Therefore, tell us what you think. Is it lawful to pay tribute to Caesar or not?"

Jesus knew that they were hypocrites, and told them as much. Then he asked them to show him the coin used to pay taxes. A coin was given to him and Jesus looked at the image on the coin asking, "whose image is this on the coin?" The men told him, "why, it is Ceasar's."  Jesus then told all of them, "then give to Ceasar what is his, and give to God what is His."

What did Jesus mean by "give to God what is His?" What belongs to God? In our daily lives, we must seek to become more holy by recognizing that everything known to man belongs to God, especially US!

There is not a flower, a bird, an animal, an insect, the earth beneath your feet, your job, your livelihood, the sun, moon, and stars - everything on this earth and in the heavens belongs to God. None of us would be living had God not first created us in heaven. God is the Father of ALL creations on this earth, from the smallest ant, to the blades of grass, to the leaves on the branches, the fruits and vegetables grown so that we may have food to live, to the mountains and oceans, and much, much more! What God has created is unfathomable. You could not possibly name all that belongs to God, except to say "the world and everything in it!"

As you go through your days, try to see God in everything around you. Consciously think "God created that; isn't is majestic?" When you see God in others, it is a welcomed Grace. All God really wants is for us to love him above all else, and to use that love for our AND HIS Glory.

Today, pray that Jesus will open your heart and take the wickedness that lies within and turn it to good. Tell him that you want to stand in your nakedness to his truths. Acknowledge that he came to this world for you and that he died on this earth for all of us. For it is only through Jesus that we will find our salvation and earn our reward of eternal life in His presence. Surrender you mind, heart, soul and body to him.

And, give to God what belongs to God .... EVERYTHING!

Lovingly in Jesus Christ,
