This beautiful song, sung by Guy Penrod of The Gaithers, is dedicated to my little brother, "Buddy". Buddy was taken from us 30 years ago when he was only 29. He was killed and it was senseless, but that's long ago water under the bridge. I think of him so often and as I close my eyes and listen to this song, flashes of him go through my mind of the times we spent together, just he and I, climbing the big tree in the front yard - oh, we were so brave! Playing tage or hide and seek with the neighboring children, even when we argued. But we were just children then. And as we came to adulthood, Buddy used to always say "I love you, Sister." And I love you, Buddy, always have, always will.
Today, I want to write a personal letter to each of you. The basic premise of this communication is to say to you "Abbey is human; she stumbles and falls; she gets emotionally involved in her problems; she hurts, she cries, she prays, she begs for answers."
Am I so different from you? My life is far from perfect; isn't yours the same? There is no perfection while we are here on earth waiting for our time to leave this world. About as close as one can get is through worship, faith, belief, trust, deep abiding love, reading the scriptures - all for the Glory of God.
The best thing in my life is knowing that God loves me and Jesus loves me and Mama loves me. No matter what happens, no matter the small sins that come and go, they all love me unconditionally, as they also do you!
What would I do without dear Mama. I think I cry to her the most; she is a woman and she had a child named Jesus, and she witnessed his crucifixion. How much more hurt can a woman experience than to lose a child, and in those days, in such a barbaric way? Therefore, she is a patriot for the children, and I mean the young and the old children of her son Jesus and of God, our Father.
I go to Mama and pour my heart and soul in my grief to her about many problems. I can feel her take them from me, but there is always enough left over for Jesus. Again, I pour my heart and soul of my grief and my humility unto Him, and I can feel him easing me down, a calming sensation, and immediate forgiveness when I confess to Him. Jesus loves us all unconditionally, even when we stumble and fall. Are you getting up by yourself? NO! Jesus is lifting you because your heart belongs to him and ultimately, you know that so you get up and keep on going through the hurt and pain, waiting for sweet relief from heaven.
God. God is love. God is my all, my everything. In going through a very difficult trial for some months now, I pray that he lifts me upon his wing and carries me through the dark and difficult times. He knows that I do not understand him; but still, he understands why because that's what he purposefully created about his existence and his relationship with us. If not for the unknowing, why would we practice faith, complete trust in Him and deep Love for Him. If we knew everything, what purpose would there be in giving our entire heart to him and allowing His Will to take over our lives?
I love bringing good news to all of you and hopefully, inspiring each of you to come to the Cross and to give your whole heart of Jesus. But that does not mean that I am always feeling as though I have conquered all through my relationship with the Holy Trinity. I am just as human as you, and I seek God in everything I see and do each day. What better way to go about your daily responsibilities?
I fell very far in the last few days. I've cried a river (and I'm not wanting your sympathy), and a couple of my family have tried their best to steer me away from worrying about this problem. I finally decided to go to my best friend's house at 7pm last night. We'd just gotten home from the beach and I had, as I said, been crying a lot. So I turned on a dime and told my husband where I was going, he asked why, and I told him I needed to talk to her.
My friend is not a coddling type person. I went there wanting to be petted and coddled and told that it was okay to cry, go ahead, cry, cry, cry, because it is a bad thing you're going through. But I should have known because she is strong, like I am (most of the time) and she has a similar situation in her own life. After I burst with words and the tears were flowing, she began talking about her situation, which is much worse, and I realized that hers was worse than mine. So, I stopped and listened again to the story. She told me very firmly that I was strong, I was strong in my love for God and that I would never fall so far that I couldn't get back up. She refused to hug and coddle, but only to speak wise words to me, even talking on other subjects until I was completely calm.
We were on her patio and as I rose to take my leave, she hugged me tight and was telling me to be strong and other things that were interrupted by a very strong voice of a female to my right, but there was no one there. My friend kept saying it was someone in the house that I heard, and I was emphatic to her that it was a woman and she was standing to my right and her voice was loud, but I was so stunned that I failed to understand what she had said to me. I've racked my brain and I cannot figure out what the woman said to me, but I AM convinced that it was Mama.
I feel much better this morning and I awoke with the thought that I wanted to blog a piece of Abbey to you. To let you know that I make human mistakes, suffer human traumas, heartbreak, and there are times when it just goes on and on and on, and I wonder when I will get some relief. I'm not too much unlike you, am I?
BUT, one thing never changes and never will, and that is my trust, faith and love for The Holy Trinity. I KNOW that when I knock, the door is opened; I opened it and there stood Jesus! I know that He and the Father God live within me and will always see to my needs in a way that will Glorify God. Accept His Will, and live in peace and tranquility.
Lovingly in Jesus Christ,
As I said my prayers last night, I fell asleep talking to Mama. Her soothing hand brushing my forehead, letting me know, "all will work out for the best according to the Will of God, and he loves you, my child."
The Time is Quickening...Do Not Postpone God's Desire Any Longer
"In order to save souls, I wish that there be propagated in the world Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, (who is) Mediatrix among men, as well as devotion to the Mercy of God and to the Queen of the Universe....The immorality of the times has reached a peak. But men do not listen to my motherly warnings; so the world must soon be purified."
Our Lady to Blessed Elena Aiello (please order your Consecration book if you have not made your consecration; and please renew it if you have made it more than one year ago.)
The Exemplars of the New and Divine Holiness share an extraordinary insight into the role God has given to His Mother. It is the desire for and acceptance of this insight through God's Grace, which unlocks further Grace to develop the loving, filial and supernatural relationship God so wants us to have with His Mother. Fr. Emil Neubert in "My Ideal: Jesus Son of Mary" shares the Gift with us, just as someone shared it with him. He explains that you can not reproduce the filial love of Jesus toward Mary, unless you are a child of Mary as Jesus was. He states: "Many love Mary as if she were their Mother." Most people fail to realize that Mary is indeed their real and true Mother in the supernatural order, which is ultimately the only order or element of our life which matters for our joy for all eternity. Our natural mother cooperated with our natural father to give us life through God's ultimate Power. However, Mary has given us the most real life....our supernatural life or sharing in the Life of God for all eternity. Her Yes...her Fiat...caused this to happen. If she had said no.....we would not have Jesus our Savior and thus we would not share in supernatural Life for all eternity in joy.
Mary's Yes occurred in three ways. First at Nazareth when she conceived Jesus, she also conceived us. Father Emil explains: "By consenting to give Jesus life, she also consented to give it to you. By becoming God's Mother, she became yours." On Calvary she brought us forth to eternal life through pure, raw suffering when she offered Jesus her Son as a sacrifice for you. He explains: "at that moment, her Motherhood was consummated...that is why God wanted to proclaim it by confiding John to Mary and Mary to John."
Mary is also our true Mother at our Baptism. Your natural mother in a sense brought you forth as a stillborn child. Fr. Emil explains: "That you might come to supernatural Life, Sanctifying Grace had to be infused into you at the baptismal font. This Sanctifying Grace came to you through Mary, for except through her, no Grace is ever given. When you were transformed from a child of wrath to a child of God, it was Mary who gave birth to you unto that life Divine. Do you understand now how Mary, by making you a participant in the life of God, is really your Mother in the supernatural order...What human motherhood could compare with such a Motherhood?" Mary is your true Mother, and she is also a perfect Mother, because she is God's Mother...and God is perfect. Do you now finally see why you must love her and be devoted to her just as Jesus was? Do you finally see what you owe her? Let us always remember that without her Fiat, we would not be born to eternal life!
Therefore, the Word of God and natural logic dictate that Jesus has set the ideal example and requires us to imitate Him. Fr. Emil brings us the key passage of Scripture in John 13:5: "I have given you an example, that as I have done, so you must do also." We must love the Mother of God, because Jesus loves her. We must love the Mother of God in the same way that Jesus loves her. We must love the Mother of God WITH THE SAME LOVE as Jesus loves her. Mary is indeed our true Mother!! What would we not do for the Mother of our eternal life in God
Most of the Positive Thoughts I receive correlate directly back to Bible teachings, and those are the ones that I like to share with you. Try to read between the lines and see if you cannot recall teachings of Jesus or scriptures that capture exactly what this piece reflects.
Giving is a miracle that can transform the heaviest of hearts. Two people, who moments before lived in separate worlds of private concerns, suddenly meet each other over a simple act of sharing. The world expands, a moment of goodness is created, and something new comes into being where before there was nothing.
To often we are blind to this everyday miracle. We build our lives around accumulation--of money, of possessions, of status--as a way of protecting ourselves and our families from the vagaries of the world. Without thinking, we begin to see giving as an economic exchange--a subtracting of something from who and what we are--and we weigh it on the scales of self-interest.
But true giving is not an economic exchange, it is a generative act. It does not subtract from what we have; it multiplies the effect we can have in the world.
Many people tend to think of giving only in terms of grand gestures. They miss the simple openings of the heart that can be practiced anywhere with almost anyone.
We can say hello to someone everybody ignores. We can offer to help a neighbor. We can buy a bouquet of flowers and take it to a nursing home, or spend an extra minute talking to someone who needs our time.
We can take ten dollars out of our pocket and give it to someone on the street. No praise, no hushed tones of holy generosity. Just give, smile, and walk away.
If you perform these simple acts, little by little you will start to understand the miracle of giving. You will begin to see the unprotected human heart and the honest smiles of human happiness. You will start to feel what is common among us, not what separates and differentiates us.
Before long you will discover that you have the power to create joy and happiness by your simplest gestures of caring and compassion. You will see that you have the power to unlock the goodness in other people's hearts by sharing the goodness in yours.
And, most of all, you will find the other givers. No matter where you live or where you travel, whether you speak their language or know their names, you will know them by their small acts, and they will recognize you by yours. You will become part of the community of humanity that trusts and shares and dares to reveal the softness of its heart.
And before we begin, here is an answered prayer from a member of Pray More Novenas who joined us in praying this novena last year:
"I had been a wayward Catholic, returning to the Church early in 2014. A friend of mine suggested this novena for me last summer and told me that she'd heard of women praying this novena then meeting their husband. At the time, I was leaning away from marriage as a vocation, thinking it wasn't for me. I prayed the novena asking for clarity in discernment. I met Marvin on August 3, 2014 and we were married on May 29, 2015. Now two months in, we're so excited to pray this novena together!" - Meghan
Great Saint Anne, engrave indelibly on my heart and in my mind the words that have reclaimed and sanctified so many sinners:
“What shall it profit a man to gain the whole world if he lose his own soul?” May this be the principal fruit of these prayers by which I will strive to honor you during this novena.
At your feet renew my resolution to invoke you daily, not only for the success of my temporal affairs and to be preserved from sickness and suffering, but above all, that I may be preserved from all sin, that I may gain eternal salvation and that I will receive the special grace of…
(State your intention here.)
O most powerful Saint Anne, do not let me lose my soul, but obtain for me the grace of heaven, there with you and your glorious daughter, to sing the praise of the Most Holy and Adorable Trinity forever and ever.
Pray for us, Saint Anne & Saint Joachim, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Thank you for praying with us!

Following some of my opinions regarding abortion is the Novena to Saint Philomena, Patron Saint for babies. There is the most dire need for this Novena to be said for nine (9) days.
The very fact that someone or many ones are aborting their babies as I write breaks my heart and sickens me. Where are the Christians in this country? Why is there not more of a fight against the legalization of MURDER of the unborn?
Firstly, when you engaged in unprotected sex, you KNOW exactly what chance your are taking, so do not hide behind the truth of your actions. There's free clinics or pharmacies who sell protection against becoming pregnant.
Secondly, do you realize that there are thousands of couples who cannot have their own children and would LOVE LOVE LOVE to adopt your baby as soon as he/she is born?
Just these two arguments alone wreak of selfishness, un-Christian behavior, and recklessness.
Lastly and most importantly, you have conceived a LIVING BABY that lives and survives within your womb in a placenta. How can anyone say that these babies are not alive or living human beings when their umbilical cords are directly connected to the living, breathing mother, which keeps them alive? If the fetus NEEDS this cord to survive, the he/she is ALIVE! Hell will bust wide open if this situation does not change before Christ arrives!!
That's my opinion and now, here is the Novena to St. Philomena.
NOTE: In nearly all images of St. Philomena, she is holding flowers and arrows. Do you see the correlation?
Novena to St. Philomena (Patron Saint of Babies)
St. Philomena is the patron saint of babies, infants, children, and adults who seek to live a life of purity and chastity. Say this Novena once a day for nine days. August 11th is the Feast of St. Philomena.
We beseech Thee, O Lord, to grant us the pardon of our sins by the intercession of Saint , virgin and martyr, who was always pleasing in Thy sight by her eminent chastity and by the profession of every virtue. Amen.
Illustrious virgin and martyr, Saint Philomena, behold me prostrate before the throne whereupon it has pleased the Most Holy Trinity to place thee. Full of confidence in thy protection, I entreat thee to intercede for me with God, from the heights of Heaven deign to cast a glance upon thy humble client! Spouse of Christ, sustain me in suffering, fortify me in temptation, protect me in the dangers surrounding me, obtain for me the graces necessary to me, and in particular (Specify your petition here).
Above all, assist me at the hour of my death. Saint Philomena, powerful with God, pray for us.
O God, Most Holy Trinity, we thank Thee for the graces Thou didst bestow upon the Blessed Virgin Mary, and upon Thy handmaid Philomena, through whose intercession we implore Thy Mercy.
I've been encouraged by readers to post more Positive Thoughts, so I will add them to this domain as the good ones come along. These are not my writings, but great thoughts to ponder written by other authors. Enjoy!
Believe in YOURSELF.
Don’t be a follower. Be a Leader. Don’t believe what you hear. Believe what you Know and Feel. Don’t put anyone on a higher pedestal than yourself. When you learn from another you must look into their eyes. Know your Power. Feel your Power. Believe your Power. No One is Greater than You.
Before you were taught doubt and insecurity. Before you were taught fear and prejudice. You were absolutely Pure. You were One with Yourself. One with the Universe. One with All. You were the very Essence of Love and Joy and Wonder. This is Who You Were. THIS IS WHO YOU ARE. It has never left you. It is within you. Remember it. The POWER is yours.
Those who allow themselves to be controlled, willingly give up their power to others. No One can take your power unless you give it. No One on earth can control you once you’ve Empowered yourself with Courage, Discipline, Responsibility, and Self Respect.
~By Eric Allen
No matter what happens, no matter the outcome, you’re going to be just fine.
To forgive is to rediscover the inner peace that at first you thought someone took away when they betrayed you.
When the person you want to be with pushes you away, thank them for pointing you in the right direction.
No matter what happens, no matter the outcome, you’re going to be just fine. Let things you can’t control, happen.
Stop focusing on what you DON'T want in your life. The more you think about it, the more you affirm and attract what you fear into your everyday experiences. You become your own worst enemy.
Letting go doesn't mean you forget the person completely, it just means that you find a way of surviving without them.
The best days of your life will be the ones where you let your heart decide what to do.
There are two ways to spread light in this world. You can either be the flame, or the mirror that reflects it.
I am very excited to announce the next Novena, the St. Anne Novena! This is a favorite of many in our Catholic family!
If you did not know already, St. Anne was the mother of Mary, and grandmother to Jesus. This is a novena to a great Saint who is known for great things. She is a very powerful intercessor!
You may have heard that unmarried women often pray to St. Anne for help in finding a spouse. But, St. Anne is also known to intercede for people for almost any request, and especially for healing.
The daily novena will come from our dear friends, John-Paul and Annie, from PrayMoreNovenas.org. I will also be posting the daily Novena when it begins, so keep an eye out for the announcement of Day 1 of the Novena to St. Anne. We start praying it very soon, and also be sure to share it with your family & friends!
The following is from a blog that I follow regularly by Anthony Mullen, author of "The Divine Antidote". I it is too good not to share it with you. Praying that you will be lifted by this and the story of Elizabeth Kindelmann from Hungary, who became the link to the Flaming Heart over 50 years ago. (Link is to her story from birth to accepting Jesus' call.) Reading this is another huge step in my spiritual growth and has provoked much self-reflection.
Our Lord constantly uses this image of Fire and Flames in explaining His Love for us. He did this with Elizabeth Kindelmann to the point that He named an Extraordinary Grace: The Flame of Love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary; but also told her that it is He Himself (seeking a union of wills such that He had with Mary our Mother to the degree we are disposed to receive it).
In the almost 15 years of daily or weekly encounters with Gabrielle Bossis, which our Lord explained in "He and I", our dear Lord also uses this image of Fire frequently. He wants us to better understand His Love so we can love Him with this same Love...this divine Conflagration of Moment to Moment Intimacy, which He so desires....He so agonizingly desires!!
On April 20 of 1945, he explained to Gabrielle: "...give yourself to Love so that Love may possess you...since I long to have all of you and cherish this hope. Your love quenches My thirst. I am most demanding: you see I want My children to be wholly and utterly Mine at every moment. So, don't withhold a thing. Don't take anything of yourselves away. You would steal from Me if you did, because everything is Mine. If I require this of you, it is because My yearning for you is a consuming fire. And My yearning is born of My Love. Do you understand? Do you at last believe? Do you acknowledge My power to Love?"
Our Lord then explained what we need to do to draw closer: "Meditate on this need of Mine and you will call to mind that it is in your power to give Me these alms. Then remember the value of a free gift--the gift on oneself--when offered out of tenderness. What inexpressible joy will be Mine who receives (your gift). I will multiply My Blessings so that the one who receives them will be lost in wonder and gratitude. 'What have I done to deserve this kindness of my God?' you will ask. And I shall reply, 'You loved Him with all your strivings and you let Him love you.'"
Our Lord then gives an amazing instruction that will resonate with those pursuing the intimacy of His Love: "Have you noticed how people talk among themselves, discussing their personal affairs? They spend so much time this way and it does them so little good. Don't you think that If they gave themselves to Me, their Friend, I should rejoice to have My place in their thoughts and I should know how to reward their confidence (abundantly)? Don't you think that it would create a moment by moment intimacy between them and Me, and this would be a joy for them, because close to Me their lives would lose their tension. Do you understand? It would be life together with Me, I carrying the heavier end of things. So, again I say, speak with Me, My little ones. Speak with Me. And our hearts will merge. Isn't this the aim of My Christians?...then begin by living this heart-oneness. Seize upon every opportunity. Find every pretext....And if, in all simplicity, their love loved Me more, I should be there looking after everything in their day, and when night fell, their eyes would close again on My face. You know what it is to sleep that way--within My embrace? Would you like to learn better? Remember, it's a question of beginning over and over again...of trying to grow....of taking great care not to be satisfied with yourself."
Our Lord then gives the key to success as He did with Elizabeth Kindelmann: "But ponder on your poverty. Tell Me about it and My heart will be all eagerness to help you since you are so little, so weak. And when you call Me be sure to give Me the most tender names. I will recognize the voice...By yourself you are chaos. Do you fully realize this? Do you try to keep it in mind? Have you humbled yourself today in thought or deed? Not to cause you distress nor diminish your strength, but to tighten your hold on the power of God, who is only waiting for your call...Yes, I know what you want most to confide: 'Lord, I don't love you as I want to. Make it possible for me to love You more.' This suffering of not loving Me enough--offer it to Me in pure reverence, straight from your heart. Offer it often. Don't grow weary, I will heal this poor suffering of yours. Perhaps by sending one greater still, one that brings with it a piercing ecstasy such as you have never known. 'O precious wound,' is the cry of those who have felt it....Humble yourself to obtain it. Sacrifice yourself...Approach Love and Love will take hold of you...Oh, the power of repentance! The sacrifice that pleases Me most is a cleft and contrite heart...So, be My very little one."
Our Lord knows we struggle badly with constantly admitting our utter weakness, sinfulness and nothingness, due to our self love, our subtle pride, so He gives us the solution: "Ask for everything through My Mother. She is so good, so attentive in caring for your souls. If only you knew! You don't know her well enough. Give yourself to her without reserve, like her little Jesus...My little child, so dear, so dear, will you let Me live on again on earth in you?"
Stand by those you care about in their darkest moments, not because you want to stand in the dark, but because you don’t want them to either. Brave the shadows alongside them until they’re able to find the light. On the flipside, stand by these same people on their sunniest days, not because you want to scorch your skin, but because you’re not afraid to let them shine bright.
In other words, be loyal. Remaining faithful in your relationships is never an option, but a priority. Loyalty means the world to the people who love you. When someone believes in you enough to lift you up, try not to let them down. You can’t promise to be there for someone for the rest of their life, but you can sincerely be there for them for the rest of yours.
“I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.”
John 10:14-16 The New King James Version
Yes, indeed, Jesus is our best shepherd, and we are his flock of sheep. As Christians, we know him. Pity the poor souls who are also His flock, but do not share in the friendship with Jesus that is so warm, loving, kind, consoling and everlasting.
Jesus knows his Father better than anyone now or ever will. And His Father knows him in the same way. And knowing his Father as he does and always has, Jesus was the best of all sons, from the beginning of time and until all eternity. The Father told Jesus that he was going to lay down his life for his sheep, so that their sins from then to eternity will all be forgiven. Being the good Son, Jesus endured such pain, so much that it is difficult to ponder without tears welling in my eyes. But he never cried out to anyone observing to stop this or help him.
Jesus finally spoke only from the cross, first to John (or was it James, anyway ...) and his mother, Mary, and introduced them as mother and son. He spoke to the thief on the cross to his right telling him "today, you will be with me in paradise" [sic]. Finally, Jesus cried out to His Father in Heaven before finally saying "It is finished."
The greatest desire for Jesus has to be that we are ALL one, altogether His flock of sheep, all knowing him, loving, praising and worshiping him, as he deserves more than anything.
If you are hearing His voice, then you are among the most blessed, for you are of His flock and He will always love you and take good care of you. Jesus is your best friend. You know surely that nobody is ever truly alone for Jesus and God are ALWAYS with us. Even so, at times we find our most challenging times and our loneliness to be unyielding. Even praying can be difficult during those times. But, dear ones, remember what I have said and TRY TRY TRY! The best thing is to KEEP MOVING!
I have been without a single girlfriend for two years. My best friend of 13 years just disappeared from my life and would not tell me "why". My daughter who has always been my best friend has blossomed in our little community and has many friends because her three children are in school here, and because she began working as a manicurist in a tiny old building in Old Town (which is a historic district); my grandchildren are grown; my children have their own lives; and I could not think of how a woman of my age would make friends with women of similar age.
During these two years, my loneliness turned to happiness, the greatest that I have ever known, for God worked this situation to bring me so close to Jesus, Mary and Himself. My blog blossomed. I claimed my place in the flock of Jesus; and there, I have dwelled and grown spiritually in leaps and bounds.
Let me tell you a story. An uncle of my husband's passed away two months ago. I found myself talking to one of his daughters who is close to my age and discovered that she lives about a mile from me, and has for several years! We have since spent time together on several occasions, drinking coffee or tea on the patio or deck, talking away for literally hours. We have shopped antique stores together, something we found that we also had in common. She and her husband love to play Rook, so we are going to get together and try to meet the challenge!
Jesus and The Father have taken good care of me and obviously feel that I am headed permanently in the right direction in my spirituality. And so, they gave me a girlfriend. I cannot aptly express the depth of my gratitude.
I do not want to let it go without acknowledging the greatest and most amazing thing that happened over two years ago, however. I met an individual on Twitter who had come there just to "see what it was all about." This individual and I became fast friends on Twitter and soon began to email. They live across the ocean and soon we began to Skype which has continued weekly for all this time. I cannot speak in detail about what this person has experienced, but, suffice to say only that they were told about me before we ever met. This is truly the best earthly friend that I've ever had. They have been spiritual advisor, friend and jokester with me, always there when I need them most. They are well-versed on The Bible and we talk of things of a spiritual nature A LOT. We've emailed every day, without fail, for over two years. I love this individual with all the love in Jesus Christ.
I am a member of Jesus' flock and he has taken good care of me, and his Father has also steered my life toward someone who has helped me more than anyone I've ever met (except for my mother and daddy).
So I am proof in the pudding that Jesus will always tend his flock lovingly and watchfully. And you will hear me say this from now until the day I can no longer speak. If you do now know Christ, please, it is the safest place to be at the foot of the cross, so don't linger any longer. If you are a hypocrite who goes to church on Sunday, but sins the rest of the week, give your heart a thorough inspection and figure out why you do this. You, too, need to come to complete conversion now!
I love you all, my dear ones, and I want to save you from yourselves and bring you to Jesus every day. There is always someone who needs to hear this in order to take that first step. I am here FOR CHRIST and FOR YOU, so BELIEVE!
Notice the word “restored” in the following Bible passage: 2 Kings 8
1 – Then Elisha spoke to the woman whose son he had RESTORED to life, saying, “Arise and go, you and your household, and sojourn wherever you can sojourn; for the LORD has called for a famine, and furthermore, it will come upon the land for seven years.”
2 – So the woman arose and did according to the saying of the man of God, and she went with her household and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.
3 – It came to pass, at the end of seven years, that the woman returned from the land of the Philistines; and she went to make an appeal to the king for her house and for her land.
4 – Then the king talked with Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, saying, “Tell me, please, all the great things Elisha has done.”
5 – Now it happened, as he was telling the king how he had RESTORED the dead to life, that there was the woman whose son he had RESTORED to life, appealing to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, “My lord, O king, this is the woman and this is her son whom Elisha RESTORED to life.”
6 – And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed a certain officer for her, saying, “RESTORE all that was hers, and all the proceeds of the field from the day that she left the land until now.
What an encouraging and uplifting story about a woman who stood to lose her son and then her property, but had them both RESTORED!
Let’s gain insights from this story of the Shunammite woman for restoration in our household. We might apply it to the restoration of relationships, communication, trust, etc. Or, like the woman, our financial state made need to be restored. Whatever needs to be restored in a household, the Word of God gives us hope!
What The Lord Asks of All His Intimate Friends...our Will and our Willingness to Repair With Love
"Behold the robe of innocence with which I clothe your soul, that you may now live only the life of a Man-God; that is to say that you may live as no longer living, but allow Me to live in you. For I am your life and you will no longer live but in Me and by Me. My Will is that you should act as no longer acting, leaving Me to act and work in you and for you, and abandon all to My care. You must henceforth have no will, letting Me will for you in everything and everywhere as though you have no will.....Behold this Heart which has so loved men....and in return I receive from the greater number nothing but ingratitude...and....the coldness and contempt which they show Me in the Sacrament of Love."
“And now I am about to go the way of all the earth, and you know in your hearts and souls; all of you, that not one word has failed of all the good things that the LORD your God promised concerning you. All have come to pass for you; not one of them has failed.”
When Jesus walked miles and miles from one place to another, he stopped and preached to the people he found along the way. Word would travel ahead of Him, His disciples and the numbers of people who followed him, which grew daily, that Jesus was on His way.
Imagine yourself witnessing his preaching first hand! Maybe one day you will, but in the meantime Jesus preached to thousands and thousands, and what
was it that captured the heart of all who listened?
It was the Good News of His Father and ours, God!
Jesus told of all that His Father in heaven had promised to those who turned away from their sinful ways, repented and gave themselves, heart and soul, to God.
He preached of the Promise Land where God was preparing a place in Glory for each one of them. He taught them how to pray to God, and importantly, he taught them about trust and faith in God. Trusting God with their most intimate worries and prayers of praise for Hod, knowing that He alone knows their hurts, happiness, needs and joys. Knowing that when they pray to God, He hears and loves them alone so much that they cannot fathom the great joy it brings Him that no matter the sins, they are forgiven, and that He will come to their rescue if only they would trust and have faith enough to give it all up to Him and know that He will always answer.
As we all know, God always answers us in ways that are for our own good, even though it may not be in a way that we expect. This is His Amazing Grace! It is like a well of cool water which has no end and is there for each of us to drink and quench our thirst for Him.
We all have the weight of problems in our lives and our needs which, if only we would surrender them to Him, He will care, love and teach us according to His Word. We are here to live lives that Glorify God!
Turn your heart fully to God now and drink from the bottomless well of a life in Jesus, God's only begotten son, who died not just for one son, but for all sin for all time. God and Jesus are waiting just for you! How long will you keep them waiting? Don't wait for we don't know if our lives will end in a day, or a week or years.
TRUTH: You are a child belonging to God. You do not want to leave this life without SALVATION!
God never allows pain without a purpose in the lives of His children. He never allows Satan, nor circumstances, nor any ill-intending person to afflict us unless He uses that affliction for our good. God never wastes pain.
"And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good,
for those who are called according to his purpose."
Romans 8:28 ESV
I have heard questions akin to "why does God allow [this or that pain-related event]?" Things such as painful health issues, painful death, horrible and painful accidents, pain resulting from great loss, and much more. It is difficult to explain, and more difficult for the person on the receiving end of the pain to accept a Godly explanation.
I have reached a plateau in my Salvation where I understand many things. The fact that God uses the pain of others, no matter the source, for the good of ourselves and for the good of others is only one of many understandings I have received.
I return to the six degrees of separation. Everything you do or experience affects your feelings and your perceptions. These are reflected in the future expression of your thoughts and your actions. Others who are family members, friends or co-workers, or even strangers, are affected when they see your actions and hear your words henceforth related to the painful event that you experienced or witnessed.
We ALL have feelings. We cannot deny them, they are there. And whenever a child of God is afflicted with pain, no matter the source or circumstance, God is immediately there (1) to aid the afflicted through their pain, and (2) to use their affliction and pain for the better good of society and Christians as a whole.
We cannot question God! We do not and will never understand the way He works in our lives, the why of His decisions for us, how He uses our pain to teach us about His love and care, and so many other aspects of our relationship with Him. It may take you some time, but if you can trust God with your all, then you will find a certain peace in these type events. God does not ALLOW satan to hurt us, satan is, and satan does, in an instant. But God and Jesus are there to save us from ourselves and further hurt by satan.
"Ask and ye shall receive; knock and it shall be opened to you." Ask God to help you to understand this pain, to help you to trust that He knows what is best for everyone, and that He is always working in every circumstance, whether initiated by Him or satan. He is there to help us in our relationship with Him, with our Faith and Hope, and our understanding of His unabiding Love for us, so much so that we Trust always that He knows best.
I wish that I were capable of drawing a roadmap for you to guide you to this understanding, but it is a divine thing that you must seek and learn for yourself. It takes conscious and constant effort on your part. It must always be in the forefront of your mind.
Although I see and hear of many painful things in life, I may not actually see how God works these things out because I am too far removed, but I still know that God is in control, and I am able to comfort others, more importantly. This is a great Grace that I have received and I am there for the ones I know and love, as well as complete strangers. You can never stop spreading the Faith and Truth of God if you are devout in your faith. It will become a natural part of you, and the rewards will be there for you, just as sure as the sun rises in the morning.
Just remember that the Lord always hears and answers his people sooner or later, in one form or another, though not always in the way and manner they desire; but yet in such a way as is most for His Glory and their good.
If you have been paying attention, I have already told you of more than one way that God uses pain and affliction for the Good of others. Can you name them?
