SPIRITUAL GEMS - DEVELOPING A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

Developing a Personal Relationship with the HolySpirit is Essential

The Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity,  the Person of Divine Love.  The Father and Son love one another with an infinite love and this love is a Person,  the Holy Spirit.  He is called a Spiritbecause He proceeds from the Father and Son.  He is the bond of Love and Union between the Father and the Son.

To the Holy Spirit are especially attributed the works of the Holy Trinity about Love, that is to say the sharing of Divine Life....Grace....and the infusion of the spiritual gifts which lead to our holiness...our being more like God through the merits of Jesus Christ. This is why He is called the Divine Sanctifier.  "No man can say Jesus is Lord except by the HolySpirit."

The first and all-important fact is that when we are in a state of Grace, the Holy Spirit is really, truly and personally in our souls as He is in Heaven.  He so desires to pour out His Gifts and Graces but He can not do this without our cooperation...we must correspond to His Love.  But how can we do this if we do not know Him and His Gifts and Fruits; if we do not speak and pray to Him; and if we do not know Him as a Person?  This is why so few Christians advance in holiness....they do not know the Divine Sanctifier. Our Mother is the Spouse of the Holy Spiritand will begin this process if we ask her sincerely and constantly to know her Spouse!  Include this request each time you pray, especially the Rosary!

Let's pray for peace in their homes and in their hearts.

CATHOLIC VOTE ARTICLE - POPE FRANCIS SPEAKS

The Holy Father is pleading with the world:
“Dear brothers and sisters: The news reports coming from Iraq leave us in dismay and disbelief...thousands of people, Children dying of hunger and thirst in their flight; women abducted; violence of every kind; destruction of historical, cultural and religious patrimonies...All this gravely offends God and humanity.”
This might surprise you, but the Holy See is also not opposed to military intervention by the United States in Iraq. In fact, some officials seem to suggest that military action might be the correct action to prevent a potential genocide from occurring.

Archbishop Giorgio Lingua, who serves as the Pope Francis' ambassador to Baghdad, told Vatican radio that American strikes are “something that had to be done, otherwise [ISIS] could not be stopped.”

Additionally, Archbishop Silvano Tomasi, the Vatican’s envoy to the United Nations in Geneva, told Vatican Radio that “military action in this moment is probably necessary.”

As much as we wish we could simply walk away from this troubled country, the United States bears a lot of responsibility for how things have unfolded in Iraq.

Perhaps we were naïve in 2003 when we invaded Iraq and attempted to establish a new democracy. It seems we were also naïve a decade later, hoping we could abandon the country to the newly formed government without leaving behind any military presence.

As the violent and radical Islamic regime known as ISIS spreads across portions of Iraq, Christians face certain death if they refuse to renounce Jesus Christ.

And so over 100,000 Christians have fled their homeland “horrified and panicked” with “nothing but the clothes on their backs,” said Patriarch Louis Sako, head of the Chaldean Catholic Church.

Patriarch Sako appealed to Western nations to intervene:
“To summarize the situation of the Christian villages around Mosul up to the borders of Kurdistan Region: the churches are deserted and desecrated; five bishops are out of their bishoprics, the priests and nuns left their missions and institutions leaving everything behind, the families have fled with their children abandoning everything else! The level of disaster is extreme.

“The position of the American president Obama only to give military assistance to protect Erbil is disappointing. The talks about dividing Iraq are threatening. The Americans are not up to a rapid solution to give hope specifically as they are not going to attack the ISIS in Mosul and in the Nineveh Plain.”
Our Catholic bishops in the United States have called upon all Catholics to join together on August 17 to pray for peace.

And we will pray fervently for peace.

But the United States cannot turn a blind eye to the cries of 100,000 Iraqis who are fleeing for their lives. That doesn't mean we have to re-invade the country. But crimes against innocent Christians of this magnitude cannot be ignored.

We simply cannot allow a genocide to happen.

We are the United States of America. We must lead. CatholicVote.org fully supports the use of force to stop the advancement of ISIS and to demand a political solution that will bring about peace.

If ISIS refuses, then the United States must stop them.

May the Holy Spirit inspire our leaders to prudently use our might to bring about peace.

DAY 9 - ST. MONICA NOVENA

Peace be with you!

God has blessed us in so many ways, it is often easy to forget His blessings. It is often easy to focus only on the bad things in life.
Today, let's thank God for all His blessings in our lives!
Here are the prayers for today:
Day 9 - St. Monica Novena
Dear Saint Monica, you were once the mournful mother of a prodigal son. Your faithfulness to prayer brought you and your son so close to God that you are now with him in eternity. By your intercession and God’s grace, your son St. Augustine became a great and venerable Saint of the Church. Please take my request to God with the same fervor and persistence with which you prayed for your own son.
(Mention your intentions here)
With your needs, worries and anxieties, you threw yourself on the mercy and providence of God. Through sorrow and pain, you constantly devoted yourself to God. Pray for me that I might join you in such a deep faith in God’s goodness and mercy.
Above all, dear Saint Monica, pray for me that I may, like your son, turn from my sin and become a great saint for the glory of God.
Amen.

MEDJUGORJE - AUGUST 25, 2014 MESSAGE TO MIRJANA

I've been waiting for this all day! And now, if you read my earlier post "WE ARE JOINED IN CHRIST'S SUFFERING", then I feel that I am spot on!

Oh how much to I love, thee, my Heavenly Mother. Let me count the ways ........

~*~

August 25, 2014 Message to Mirjana

Today, August 25, 2014, the Blessed Mother appeared to Medjugorje visionary Marija and delivered the following message:

“Dear children! Pray for my intentions, because Satan wants to destroy my plan which I have here and to steal your peace. Therefore, little children, pray, pray, pray that God can act through each of you. May your hearts be open to God’s will. I love you and bless you with my motherly blessing. Thank you for having responded to my call.”

"WE ARE JOINED IN CHRIST'S SUFFERING ...."

As I sat here and reflected on this past week's events, I opened my computer and there appeared this Scripture quoted from The Living Bible:

Dear friends, don’t be bewildered or surprised when you
go through the fiery trials ahead, for this is no strange,
unusual thing that is going to happen to you.
Instead, be really glad—because these trials will make you
partners with Christ in his suffering, and afterwards
you will have the wonderful joy of sharing his glory
in that coming day when it will be displayed.
1 Peter 4:12-13
The Living Bible

~*~

I was rolling along, enjoying my life and my partnership with Jesus Christ, feeling such joy and positivity.  I had some good things happening in my life, and those continue to the present time.

BUT, there came a day when the attacks began.  Wednesday, Thursday and Friday - three days in a row - I was under attack and the evil one was behind it all.  He had to be.  The first attack came from someone I am close to and never expected it, but when she closed the door to the room, I almost had a feeling of foreboding.  That closed door could mean either a secret was to be shared with me, as was the usual course, but I could feel the evil one's presence. I was not disappointed (yet I was, on the other hand). Fierceness rose against me. My questions to the other person were called "stupid" and so on and so on.  I could have won an Academy Award when I rose and said that I had to get home for date night with my husband.  I kissed and said "I love you" and assured the individual that they had not made me mad.  Irritated? Yes, but it was no big deal.  My heart is so full of Christ and The Holy Spirit that when phoned a couple of days later, I still made myself do what Jesus would do.

On Thursday, I opened my tablet to find three very long messages that were vile and rambling, attacking me and my family and then in the next paragraph, talking about prayer. This person was clearly not in their right mind.  It is a situation that is very sensitive to my family and I had to call one of the parties mentioned just to see if there was any truth to the vile things being said. It was confirmed that it was all lies.  My action: block them!

Then on Friday, my faith was attacked and I was accused of hiding behind my Christianity while I do my "dirty work".  I could not stand by idle, as I should have done.  I replied to the attacks that were coming via text and concerned one of the most beloved people in my life, trying to defend myself and bring God and forgiveness into the equation, but nothing worked.  I finally just stopped answering after being so exhausted.

My friends, never respond to these attacks. Let them go. I am a Disciple for Jesus Christ, and the strongest warriors in Christ's army are the one's who will feel the most difficult trials.  But as I've said before, you have to try your best to keep your eye on Jesus Christ and pray, pray, pray.

I was wrong to try and defend myself on all three occasions.  Considering who these people are, I really should not care what they say.  But, why did I continually defend myself and my family?  Because I suffer from a very common HUMAN failure! I cannot walk away, at least not then.

These things still stir in my heart and once words are spoken, they are impossible to forget.  But the first thing I did was pray to Christ for forgiveness for engaging.  In these times, I beckon The Holy Spirit to bring me peace and this continues until I feel my shoulders drop in relaxation and I know He has calmed me.

While God has assured me that He has these matters and that I should go forth, be happy and let Him have them to handle, I went back on my promise. I am not "ashamed", just disappointed in myself.

"these trials will make you partners with Christ
in his suffering, and afterwards
you will have the wonderful joy of
sharing his glory in that coming
day when it will be displayed."

What a friend we have in Jesus. What an honor to be a partner with Christ in His suffering.  How comforting to know that one day, I will have wonderful joy of sharing in His Glory!!  I have FAITH that it will be displayed and I will know it when I see it! Praise God!

Don't fall for the evil one's lures and games; be on alert at all times, and pray him away from you "in the name of Jesus Christ."

God grant you the peace of a happy and Christ-filled life,
Abbey

DEEP THOUGHTS

Dear Friends,

I know you want to hear from me. It's been a very tough week for me.  I've been under the attack three times by different things in the last two days.  It has brought me down, but I am praying to the Holy Trinity to bring me back to my peaceful state.

Satan has a way of creeping in when you least expect it and before you know it, you are upside down.  I recognize it immediately and pray him back to the fires of hell.  But the others, oh, the others. What can I do but pray for them?

Be alert always, for satan preys on the weak and is most excited to prey on those whose hearts belong fully to God.  He is relentless, I have learned.  I got to battle less often now than, say, a year ago, but I still go to battle against him.

I will stand upright with mine eyes lifted to the Lord, and I will battle satan or die trying if I must, but I shall never turn my back on my Lord and my God.

We leave for the beach in the next few weeks, after the holiday and after all the kids are in school. Just me and my hubby for three days.  I sure need this brief respite to charge my batteries. I feel even though it was 100 degrees here yesterday that Fall is just around the corner. I love the spring and summertime so much, and I grow a bit low when all the flowers and leaves begin to die off.  I LOVE LOVE CHRISTMAS, though.  And I put my all into it.  But once Christmas is over, January and February are our coldest months and well, I'm ready for spring again.

The years are speeding by me now. I wish I had slowed down in my youth long enough to fully appreciate my life.  Now that I am a grandmother and my grandchildren are growing up so fast, I am surprised at the number of years I have been on this earth.  I realize that I am growing closer to Heaven, and that is something that I am living for.

It's a cool, comfortable morning, so I'm outside with coffee and you!  It'll be hot later, but I'll still probably turn on the ceiling fan and stay outside and read all day. I'm involved in a good series and once I get going, it is hard to put it down.

I pray that each of you will have a blessed weekend. Happy Feast month of the Immaculate Heart of Mary  and God bless you!+++

NOVENA TO ST. MONICA - DAY FIVE

Peace be with you!
Today let's pray for all those who have fallen away from the Church.
St. Monica's son St. Augustine was away for many years and she had such a strong devotion to Christ that she persevered in hope that her son would one day return to God.
Her faithfulness was rewarded after many years.  Let's pray for those in our lives who have fallen away!
