SATAN: A PERSONAL ENCOUNTER - REAL OR DREAMED?

His breath is what awoke me.  But, I didn't open my eyes.  I was maybe 8 years old?  His breath was hot and it sounded like that of a monster.  Yes, a monster.  That was my thinking as a child.  My mother would, years later, laughingly tell people that I was always waking her in the night and asking if I could get in bed with my sister.  I slept so good with my sister; she was older and I felt her as my protector.  An atomic bomb couldn't wake her, either, so she was never bothered by my sliding into the twin bed with her.

I was sleeping on my back.  The hot breaths came and blew in my face, sometimes even the sense of a deepening growl that was controlled came with them.  Suddenly, I felt two "hands" take my arms which were at my sides, and squeeze me very hard.  Still, I would not relent and open my eyes.  I have always wanted to be an actress and this was my first performance.  I never opened my eyes, nor changed my breathing, even though I was frightened out of my mind.

He squeezed my arms against my body and was unable to even disturb the stead breaths of a sleeping child.  Finally, he was gone.  I was so scared that I never opened my eyes, but finally found sleep again.  I never told anyone about this encounter, yet I believe it was real.  It was too real for a young girl's dreams to conjure.

Satan has been after me all of my life.  Why?  Perhaps he knows the inherent good in me, even as a child when I was molested by my natural father (not my Daddy).  He has followed me for 58 years, but there is a higher power that has shewn him on his way.

As I lay awake and unable to fall asleep last night, the door to this long-cloistered memory was opened.  Why?  I could not stop thinking about it and in fact, decided to write about it today.

I am special.  I am special in Jesus' eyes and the eyes of the Father.  Last night I prayed that God would never allow Satan to come that close to me again.  I prayed to my Guardian Angel to stay by my side with his companion angel and always protect me.  Afraid of Satan?  "Hell" yes! And we should all be.  I'll bet there are unknown numbers of people who have experienced the same "visitor" as I did as a child; perhaps locking the memory away out of fear, just as I lock away the memory of molestation because it was so horrible.  Satan's hot breath and hands on me were worse.

Okay, it's out in the open now .... do you think I've lost my marbles?  Think again ... Satan's warriors linger the world over, waiting to take yet one more soul to hell with them to defy God.  Pray him out of your lives and those of your loved ones regularly.  Pray him out of your home and those of your friends. He IS real .... and he is out to get all of God's children, or as many as he can.  He wants to win, but as Christians, we know that with God on our side, who can be afraid?

We can be tired, weary and emotionally distraught, but after spending time alone with God, we find that He injects into our bodies energy, power and strength.

This Day's Verse

For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship.  And by him we cry, "Abba, Father."  The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.  Now if we are children, then we are heirs- heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

In Tolstoy's "Man and Dame Fortune," the hero is told he can have the right to all the land around which he can plow a furrow in a single day.  The man started off with great vigor, and was going to encompass only that which he could easily care for.  But as the day progressed, he desired more and more rights.  He plowed and plowed, until at the end of the day he could in no possible way return to his original point of departure, but struggling to do so, he fell, the victim of a heart attack.  The only right he secured was the right to 18 square feet of land in which to be buried.

MEDJUGORJE: OUR LADY'S MESSAGE TO MARIJA 7-25-2012

Message of July 25, 2012
"Dear children! Today I call you to the 'good'. Be carriers of peace and goodness in this world. Pray that God may give you the strength so that hope and pride may always reign in your heart and life because you are God's children and carriers of His hope to this world that is without joy in the heart, and is without a future, because it does not have its heart open to God who is your salvation. Thank you for having responded to my call." 07/2012

JESUS ON JUDGMENT

JESUS ON JUDGMENT

"The Lord has a plea against His people, and He enters into trial." -Micah 6:2
Jesus promises that on Judgment Day we will be judged on whether we repented at His preaching (Mt 12:41). In some sense, Jesus is preaching in the circumstances of everyday life, but most literally Jesus Himself is preaching at the liturgy (e.g., the Eucharistic liturgy) (Catechism, 1088). This does not mean that every word the priest or deacon says during the homily is straight from the Lord. Yet it does mean that, by virtue of the nature of Jesus' priesthood and the nature of the liturgy, Jesus the High Priest is working through or even despite the person reading the Scriptures or preaching. On Judgment Day, we will be held accountable for repenting as we heard God's words in the liturgy.

Also, Jesus promises that on Judgment Day we will be judged on whether we have gone to extremes to listen to His wisdom (Mt 12:42). Jesus' wisdom is available in many ways but especially in the official teaching of His body, the Church. If we haven't tried to read the Bible, the Church's Catechism, the second Vatican Council's documents, and the Pope's encyclicals, can we as Catholics say that we have gone to extremes to listen to Jesus' wisdom?
Let's repent of spiritual anorexia. Let us hunger for God's Word (see Mt 4:4). We need repentance and wisdom. Judgment Day comes.

Prayer: Father, I repent of stuffing myself with the things of the flesh and thereby losing my spiritual appetite (see Prv 13:19).

Promise: "You have been told, O man, what is good, and what the Lord requires of you: only to do right and to love goodness, and to walk humbly with your God." -Mi 6:8
Praise: From an early age, St. Bridget dedicated every Friday to meditating upon Jesus' passion.

WATCHING GOD WORK!

I can recall vividly, unfortunately, many years when I gave no thought to how "God Works" in our lives.  But over the last two years, I have witnessed something amazing - teaching my son to hold onto his Faith, that God DOES take care of you and has His own plan for you.

Quite unfortunately, my son did some things, bad things, and he lost his fiance and baby son. He had been unfaithful, and I respect her for giving him a second chance, but he blew that, too.  What's the matter with him, I thought.  The day she called me and said "all my stuff is in my car and me and [baby] are moving to my mother's."  I remember I was at my bestie's house at the lake.  It was just after Thanksgiving.  I cried so hard and virtually cried all weekend, messing up everyones party.  The others thought I was going overboard; but, I don't do "mediocre" - my life has been one of feeling and doing everything to the max.  I don't want to miss a thing!!

I think my son thought she'd come back.  He refused to leave his house saying, "I bought this house for my family and I'm not leaving my family's house."  Do you know how awful it is to see your child suffering, depressed, crying?  He's a grown man, but he has suffered a great deal.

He made a second big mistake and lost his job.  He was a police officer and I had never been comfortable with this role in his life.  He worked midnight to noon shift and in a small town with a lot of "projects", he could be hurt, or even killed.  It worried me to no end.  Oh, and by the way, I continued to cry and pray daily.  I went to see him every week when he had his son for two days.  He always kissed "her" on the forehead as she left, but she was uncomfortable, I could tell.

He managed to get a part-time firefighter job in the small town where he lived.  It was sporadic and it certainly did not pay the bills.  Between his dad and me, we tried to keep him afloat, but there came a time when we FINALLY convinced him to move back in with his dad.  He lost his house and then his pistol was stolen one week ago out of his truck.

I'm trying to capsulize, but know that I have cried a river of tears for over two years, and so has my son!  He yanked his cross made from two nails that I had given him off and said, "I've prayed and prayed, God hasn't done anything for me, so I don't have any use for Him!"  He was crying and it made me cry, "OH NO, NO SON, PLEASE, NO! Now listen to me."

I have been giving him the pep talk - you cannot battle with the Lord, EVER; He has His own plan just for you and it will happen in His time!  Keep your faith!"  I have repeated this at least a thousand or more times to him to keep him on the right path.

1.  He cheated on the woman he loved, a beautiful woman who had born his child out of wedlock, and he lost her.

2.  He lost his best-paying job over a stupid mistake (police officer).

3.  He lost his home because he could not find a job that HE wanted, in spite of us pushing him to get a job, anywhere, just to keep afloat. He would have none of it - he loved firefighting, it had been his love since he was a boy because his dad was a firefighter.

Okay, now that's just three big events, but there are numerous small dynamics going on over the course of the last two years.

My son was hired by a HUGE national construction company two weeks ago.  For one, this affords him the opportunity of advancement at a much higher pay scale than that of either a firefighter or police officer.  As a side thought, when he lost his job as a police officer, I told him, "how so you know that God did that to save you from some eminent danger in the future, even death?" It made him think! He had one door after another in the world of firefighter closed because he did not have his "paramedic" certification, only his EMT II.  Again I said, "how do you know that God isn't saving you from some eminent danger in the future?  God has HIS plan for you son, and it's going to be something big, I can FEEL IT!" And I wasn't lying.  I feel the Holy Spirit and the Lord Jesus all around me, every day.  I do get "positive" and "negative" feelings that are very certain and very strong. I attribute this to my strong Faith in God the Father, Jesus the Son, and The Holy Spirit and how the Holy Trinity works in unison.

Looking back over the last two years, it has been fraught with tears, hundreds and hundreds of prayers for my son and also him praying his own prayers.  He gave up once, but immediately fixed his cross and put it back on the day he yanked it off in frustration.  I know God forgave him.  My son is "a prayer"; he has always prayed, ever since he was a young boy.  He tells me he prays and I believe in him.

So you see, God ALLOWED many things that I have not detailed here, but capsulized, to happen in my son's life over more than two years, so you see, it was a real struggle. It has been two of the hardest years of my life, watching my son so depressed and distraught. But, as one domino fell, and another and another, they all ended up in a wonderful new life, a new chapter for him.  He made a terrible mistake, he had to suffer the consequences.  Then, God began working to push my Son to a new and much different life than we ever envisioned.

Losing the police job - a relieve to me! - I know it was to save him and to urge him forward to something much better suited to his life.  Not being able to be hired as a firefighter, it hurt him deeply and he was so discouraged.  His self-esteem hit rock bottom.  Then the last domino, he lost his home, the home he bought "for my family".  He couldn't accept that they were never coming back, not like they used to be, so he's accepted that now.

Amazingly, he began going to large construction companies, companies that work on building bridges and roads and other large jobs all around the country.  He was called back several weeks after talking to someone at a very large national construction company.  He was hired, went through training, and began working today for more money than he has ever made in his life.

It is a new beginning for him, and I've told him how God has worked in his life to lead him where he is. SO, the BIG lesson here is this:  God has his own time of things.  He has a plan for each one of us and even though our free will brings us to bad choices, FAITH keeps us going and slowly urges us back to where we are supposed to be.  FAITH isn't just believing in something you cannot see.  It is also knowing that this God that we cannot see is REAL, the He is taking care of each one of us, an enormous task, yes, but God is so great and loving and wonderful - He never forgets not one of His own.

I believe my Son is now a much bigger believer in FAITH that ever has been.  I am still praying for him every day, that the job is all that he hoped for and more, that he is safe, that he is a good father to his son, and that he finds that right love one day and will treat her right.

It is very humbling, all this.  But my humility in the eyes of God is nothing I want more.  Being humbled by Him, as he has humbled me and my Son, is a GOOD and RIGHTEOUS thing.  It has strengthened my Son's faith and I pray it is something that he never, ever forgets!

Cheerfully in Christ,

Abbey

KEEP BELIEVING IN YOURSELF

There may be days when you get up in the morning and things aren't the way you had hoped they would be,

....that's when you have to tell yourself that things will get better.

There are times when people disappoint you and let you down,

but those are the times when you must remind yourself to trust your own judgments and opinions, to keep your life focused on believing in yourself and all that you are capable of.

There will be challenges to face and changes to make in your life, and it is up to you to accept them.

Constantly keep yourself headed in the right direction for you. It may not be easy at times, but in those times of struggle you will find a stronger sense of who you are, So when the days come that are filled with frustration and unexpected responsibilities, remember to believe in yourself and all you want your life to be, because the challenges and changes will only help you to find the goals that you know are meant to come true for you.

Keep believing in yourself.

Worth the time to read: THE LOVE YOUR GIVE IS WORTH THE LOVE YOU RECEIVE

Love fuels passion, hope and desire. It generates creativity giving us purpose and making us feel alive. When we think of love, we primarily think of romantic love yet love comes in various shades, all unique, all part of fulfilling us with whole enriched lives. However, like the even exchange of the breath, the love we give is the love we receive.

Ten Tips on Loving and Being Loved:
  1. LOVE BEGINS WITH YOU: Your inner voice is where your story of love begins: It is hard to feel worthy of love if someone is criticizing you all the time and especially if that someone is talking in your head. Stop self-loathing; it’s a waste of time. Stop comparing yourself to others and feeling like a victim. Dare to be proud of yourself, look for your strengths, watch for the negative talk and stop it.
  2. GRATITUDE REFLECTION:   Like any muscle, the heart get stronger with exercise. Gratitude reflection is a great exercise for opening the heart. Take two minutes each morning when you open your eyes and two minutes each night right before you close them to give thanks. Just go through the list of all the things you are grateful for—beginning with your ability to feel gratitude for the job that gets you out of bed each morning.
  3. DECLARE LOVE:  Give passion to everything in your life. Love your walks, your gardening, your age, the family you created, the weather patterns where you live. Grab onto it all as if you might lose it. See through a child’s eyes. Be thrilled and excited about life. Find miracles everywhere. Use the word love more often when describing aspects of your life.
  4. LITTLE IS BIG: A big heart is full of endless possibilities to show love in little ways.  Engage in small acts of kindness that cost little money, if any, and take little time. It is amazing how effective small acts of kindness are and how long they are remembered. Open doors, smile, call a friend that is hurting, put a card in the mail, pick up an extra coffee, make “just because” gestures part of your daily life. Don’t think it, do it! And yes, we all have more time for this than we know.
  5. LOVE LIKE THE OCEAN: You have the ability to love like the seven seas reaching around the world and back. And like the ocean putting passion into each and every wave, all your love matters and makes a difference. We are all capable of grand love.
  6. THINK HAMMER INSTEAD OF NAIL: At some time in our lives we will all experience pain and hardships. These experiences hurt and lead us to build walls around us to protect us from others. Yet, pain and hardship are great tools for opening the heart. You must have courage and strength and allow your hardships to open the flow of love in your life.
  7. UNDERSTAND MOTHER NATURE: Mother Nature bestowed us with romantic love so we can reproduce, maternal/paternal love so we can care for the next generation and friendship so we can connect and protect one another. However, in addition to the bonding gift of emotional love, Mother Nature intended love to serve us in many ways. One way is by easing anxiety. The next time you find yourself in a situation with a coworker, stuck in traffic or angry at a stranger, stay in the love. Witness how calmly your body reacts and how much more you can handle in your life.
  8. CUT OTHERS A BREAK: Most people are coming from a place of exhaustion and/or feeling unappreciated. People are overwhelmed and lonely, and Emotions 101 is not taught in any school. Regardless of how easy someone’s life may appear, they have their personal hardships. Simply cut them a break.
  9. REMOVE THE DEBRIS: Think of a river heading home to the sea. As she voyages forward her journey is hampered if debris gets in her way and clogs her up. Anger, resentment, fear, judgment and blame are debris hampering the flow of love in your life. Self reflect, take responsibility and open your heart to love. You can find tools to release the debris by reading books, watching lectures, praying, forgiving others.
  10. LET GO: Many people rarely if ever hear the words, I love you. It can be scary and awkward, but the more you say it the easier it gets. Just say: I love you to your mother, father, sister, brother, friend, anyone you love. End conversations with I love you. Just see how good it feels and how well it is accepted. Witness the love being returned to you. And remember to say, I.

WISDOM

"Prayer is the mortar that holds our house together."
~Mother Teresa

PRAYERS ARE NEEDED

I have two very good friends from my parish that need prayer.  They are a married couple, Renee and Jim.  Jim is having some back problems which is preventing him from working.  I ask that you please lift Jim in prayer and also Renee as she is is only caregiver and provider.  My heart thanks each and every one of you for your prayers.

PRAYER FOR THE SICK
O God, your Son accepted our sufferings to teach us the virtue of patience in human illness. Hear the prayers we offer for our sick brothers and sisters. May all who suffer pain, illness or disease realize that they are chosen to be saints, and know that they are joined to Christ in his suffering for the salvation of the world, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

TEACH YOUR CHILDREN WELL - DAUGHTERS

YOU ARE THE AUTHOR OF THE STORY OF YOUR LIFE!

Have hope. Because it works wonders for those who have it. Be optimistic. Because people who expect things to turn out for the best often set the stage to receive a beautiful result.

Count your blessings. Be inspired to climb your ladders and have some nice, long talks with your wishing stars. Be strong and patient, gentle and wise.

Believe in happy endings. Because you are the author of the story of your life.

GOOD MORNING, FRIENDS IN CHRIST!

Decide that there is no better time than right now to be happy...

Your life will always be filled with challenges. It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway.

"For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life."

This perspective has helped me to see that there is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way. So, treasure every moment that you have. And treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time ... and remember that time waits for no one...

So stop waiting until you finish school, until you go back to school, until you lose ten pounds, until you gain ten pounds, until you have kids, until your kids leave the house, until you start work, until you retire, until you get married, until you get divorced, until Friday night, until Sunday morning, until you get a new car or home, until your car or home is paid off, until spring, until summer, until fall, until winter, until you are off welfare, until the first or fifteenth, until your song comes on, until you've had a drink, until you've sobered up, until you die, until you are born again to decide that there is no better time than right now to be happy...

Work like you don't need money,
Love like you've never been hurt,
And dance like no one's watching.

HEALING

Dear Ones,

I am nine days out from surgery.  In the beginning I wondered why this was called "out-patient" because it is so painful. And then, I think, "there is nothing they can do for you in the hospital."  It's true. The best therapy for this surgery is walking.  Get this, the PA tells me with my dismissal instructions, "you need to walk every day and work up to 2 miles twice a day."  IS SHE KIDDING ME?  If there were a person who lived alone and had no one to aid them, there is no way this person is going to get 2 miles of walking in.  Heck, my husband goes with me and I use my hiking stick to steady me.  We waked outside for the FIRST time yesterday morning.  We walked to the left of our driveway up about two houses where the street begins a steep incline, we cross the street and return from the direction in which we came. We passed our house and went around the large circle corner and walked about five houses until the street started to decline, so we cross the street and head back the way we came.

THAT was my 2-mile walk. Ha!  Seriously, I walk around the house and I don't know what else I can do to make this process go any faster. You're going to heal as fast as your body can, under varying circumstances. I am taking care of myself and as I said, trying to push myself to do more each day. But there are days, like today, where I wake and I just don't feel well, not like I felt yesterday. Did I do too much? Up and down the stairs too much?  I dunno .....

I just wanted to catch you up and to let you know that I have been praying to our Healer, our Blessed Jesus to touch my body every day and help me through this.  I know He is doing what He feels is best for me, so I am very patient. I do not mind waiting on the Savior. The Father guides Him and I have the very best care from my husband.  He caught me filling a small bucket with water yesterday and said, "what do you think you're doing? How much are you supposed to be lifting?"  'Nuff said. I told him what needed doing and he took care of it.  He wants me to heal so he is taking great care to help me to that end. Thank you, my dear Lee. You will never understand the great love that I have for you, but it's okay. I love loving you and I thank God for you, my dear heart.

Peace, Love & Joy to you all,
Abbey

Medjugorje Message on July 2 to Mirjana

Listen, dear Ones, to the words of our Mother. What she has to say is loving and full of care for us all.  Blessed be Mirjana for being the Chosen One to receive these messages.  I love this message in particular.  It calls us to reflect on this earthly life vs. an eternal life.  It urges us and provides a road map to the way of salvation. Praise God for his eternal mysteries.  I will follow him forever, into eternity. Love, Peace & Joy to you all.

July 2 Medjugorje Message

Today, July 02, 2012, Our Lady appeared to the visionary Mirjana and delivered the following message:

"My children; "Again, in a motherly way, I implore you to stop for a moment and to reflect on yourselves and on the transience of this your earthly life. Then reflect on eternity and the eternal beatitude. What do you want? Which way do you want to set out on? The Father`s love sends me to be a mediatrix for you, to show you with motherly love the way which leads to the purity of soul; a soul unburdened by sin; a soul that will come to know eternity. I am praying that the light of the love of my Son may illuminate you, so that you may triumph over weaknesses and come out of misery. You are my children and I desire for all of you to be on the way of salvation. Therefore, my children, gather around me that I may have you come to know the love of my Son and thus open the door of eternal beatitude. Pray as I do for your shepherds. Again I caution you: do not judge them, because my Son chose them. Thank you."
