TEN COMMANDMENTS TO FOLLOW IN LIFE ALL OF THE TIME

Someone has written these beautiful words. Must read and try to understand the deep meaning of it. They are like the ten commandments to follow in life all the time.

~*~

1] Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that you pull out when in trouble, but it is a "steering wheel" that directs the right path throughout.

2] So a Car's WINDSHIELD is so large and the Rear view Mirror is so small? Because our PAST is not as important as our FUTURE. So, Look Ahead and Move on.

3] Friendship is like a BOOK. It takes few seconds to burn, but it takes years to write.

4] All things in life are temporary. If going well, enjoy it, they will not last forever. If going wrong, don't worry, they can't last long either.

5] Old Friends are Gold! New Friends are Diamond! If you get a Diamond, don't forget the Gold! Because to hold a Diamond, you always need a Base of Gold!

6] Often when we lose hope and think this is the end, GOD smiles from above and says, "Relax, dear heart, it's just a bend, not the end!

7] When GOD solves your problems, you have faith in HIS abilities; when GOD doesn't solve your problems HE has faith in your abilities.

8] A blind person asked St. Anthony: "Can there be anything worse than losing eye sight?" He replied: "Yes, losing your vision!"

9] When you pray for others, God listens to you and blesses them, and sometimes, when you are safe and happy, remember that someone has prayed for you.

10] WORRYING does not take away tomorrow's TROUBLES, it takes away today's PEACE.

KIDS IN CHURCH

KIDS IN CHURCH
3-year-old Reese : 'Our Father, Who does art in heaven,
Harold is His name.
Amen.' ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A little boy was overheard praying:
'Lord, if you can't make me a better boy, don't worry about it.
I'm having a real good time like I am.'

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After the christening of his baby brother in church,
Jason sobbed all the way home in the back seat of the car.
His father asked him three times what was wrong.
Finally, the boy replied,
'That preacher said he wanted us brought up in a Christian home,
and I wanted to stay with you guys.'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

One particular four-year-old prayed,
'And forgive us our trash baskets as we forgive those who put trash in our baskets.'

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A Sunday school teacher asked her children as they
were on the way to church service,
'And why is it necessary to be quiet in church?'
One bright little girl replied,
'Because people are sleeping.'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A mother was preparing pancakes for her sons, Kevin 5, and Ryan 3.
The boys began to argue over who would get the first pancake.
Their mother saw the opportunity for a moral lesson..
'If Jesus were sitting here, He would say,
'Let my brother have the first pancake, I can wait.'
Kevin turned to his younger brother and said,
' Ryan , you be Jesus !'

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A father was at the beach with his children
when the four-year-old son ran up to him,
grabbed his hand, and led him to the shore where a seagull lay dead in the sand. 'Daddy, what happened to him?' the son asked.
'He died and went to Heaven,' the Dad replied.
The boy thought a moment and then said,
'Did God throw him back down?'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A wife invited some people to dinner.
At the table, she turned to their six-year-old daughter and said,
'Would you like to say the blessing?'
'I wouldn't know what to say,' the girl replied.
'Just say what you hear Mommy say,' the wife answered.
The daughter bowed her head and said,
'Lord, why on earth did I invite all these people to dinner?'

September 25, 2011 Medjugorje Message

Today, September 25, 2011, Our Lady appeared to the visionary Marija and delivered the following message to the world:
"Dear children! I call you, for this time to be for all of you, a time of witnessing. You, who live in the love of God and have experienced His gifts, witness them with your words and life that they may be for the joy and encouragement to others in faith. I am with you and incessantly intercede before God for all of you that your faith may always be alive and joyful, and in the love of God. Thank you for having responded to my call."
Comment:

Our Lady's message is mildy different, or rather, she is approaching us in a different manner. Her words calling on us to be witnesses means that you and I must live our lives so that we witness to people without having to say a word.  I know that there are some friends on Facebook who never comment on my posts about Faith.  But if not for God, I do not think I could carry on.  Because of Him and Jesus, and the Blessed Mother, I am able to live the most happy life doing things in his name.  Moreover, her assurance that she is with us and incessantly intercede before God for all of" us was an amazing thing.  Consider that her statements months past were urgent calls for conversion of those who do not know God and Jesus Christ.  This message was a very personal on from Our Lady, and it was meant to be for us.  Praise God, and thank you for choosing Mary as our heavenly Mother.

DAILY READINGS FOR SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2011

Reading 1, Zec 2:5-9, 14-15a

5 Then, raising my eyes, I had a vision. There was a man with a measuring line in his hand.
6 I asked him, 'Where are you going?' He said, 'To measure Jerusalem, to calculate her width and length.'
7 And then, while the angel who was talking to me walked away, another angel came out to meet him.
8 He said to him, 'Run, and tell that young man this, "Jerusalem is to remain unwalled, because of the great number of men and cattle inside.
9 For I -- Yahweh declares -- shall be a wall of fire all round her and I shall be the Glory within her." '
14 Sing, rejoice, daughter of Zion, for now I am coming to live among you -Yahweh declares!
15 And on that day many nations will be converted to Yahweh. Yes, they will become his people, and they will live among you. Then you will know that Yahweh Sabaoth has sent me to you!

Responsorial Psalm, Jeremiah 31:10, 11-12, 13

10 Listen, nations, to the word of Yahweh. On the farthest coasts and islands proclaim it, say, 'He who scattered Israel is gathering him, will guard him as a shepherd guarding his flock.'
11 For Yahweh has ransomed Jacob, rescued him from a hand stronger than his own.
12 They will come, shouting for joy on the heights of Zion, thronging towards Yahweh's lavish gifts, for wheat, new wine and oil, sheep and cattle; they will be like a well-watered garden, they will sorrow no more.
13 The young girl will then take pleasure in the dance, and young men and old alike; I shall change their mourning into gladness, comfort them, give them joy after their troubles;

Gospel, Lk 9:43b-45

43 and everyone was awestruck by the greatness of God. But while everyone was full of admiration for all he did, he said to his disciples,
44 'For your part, you must have these words constantly in mind: The Son of man is going to be delivered into the power of men.'
45 But they did not understand what he said; it was hidden from them so that they should not see the meaning of it, and they were afraid to ask him about it.

College Invokes Catholic Mission, Cancels Prestigious Lecture with Pro-Abortion Rights Writer

A Catholic university in Pennsylvania has cancelled the campus visit of a popular columnist for a prestigious lecture after The Cardinal Newman Society reported that the pending speaker has been a very public proponent for abortion rights.

According to the Saint Francis University website last week, writer Ellen Goodman was set to deliver the “25th Furlong Lecture” in October. The news webpage announcing this event is now missing. On another page of the Saint Francis site, we read that the event was cancelled.

We contacted the University today to ask why they decided to cancel Goodman’s lecture. Here is the reply we got back from a spokesperson:
“Saint Francis University has decided to postpone the Furlong Lecture series scheduled for October 12 and cancel the appearance of Ms.Ellen Goodman. After careful consideration, the University felt Ms. Goodman’s body of work has reflected statements that are not in close enough alignment with some Catholic teachings and with the values and mission of the University as required for an event of this stature on the Saint Francis campus.”
Saint Francis University should be commended for protecting its Catholic identity.

THIS DAY'S . . .

God often places someone at a camp, a club, or a church as a certain intersection to build you up: Someone to say something that you'll never forget or to encourage you at a moment of need.
Gregg Matte

This Day's Verse

Grandchildren are the crowning glory of the aged; parents are the pride of their children.

~Proverbs 17:6
The New Living Translation

HEARTLIGHT

VERSE:

That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us.

~Acts 17:27

THOUGHT:

Our seeking God longs to be sought! God placed his fingerprints all over the universe and then gave us places to find life and meaning. He had a purpose in this plan: he wanted us to seek the One behind it all. He is never far away from us, but he longs to be sought and found. When we seek after God, we are not only blessing him, we're also living out our life's key task.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, I long to know you more completely -- as the old hymn says to Jesus: "Beyond the sacred page, I seek thee Lord. My spirit pants for thee O living Word." Loving Father, I ask that your presence would be recognizable in my daily life. I truly want to get to know you, even as I am known by you. In the name of the Savior I pray. Amen.

August 25, 2011 Message to Marija

I'm not sure why this came in my mail today since it is nearly the 25th of September, but I want to post each and every message from the Blessed Mother.  Peace be with you all.

August 25, 2011 Message to Marija

Today, August 25, 2011, Our Lady appeared to the visionary Marija and delivered the following message for the world:
"Dear children! Today I call you to pray and fast for my intentions, because Satan wants to destroy my plan. Here I began with this parish and invited the entire world. Many have responded, but there is an enormous number of those who do not want to hear or accept my call. Therefore, you who have said ‘yes’, be strong and resolute. Thank you for having responded to my call."

SERIOUSLY?

Are you serious? Am I? ... or did they mean, Are you serious (hahaha!)? Seriously though, am I? ...serious? I guess that would all depend on what it is I am being asked if I am "serious" about though. I am serious about my family and friends (absolutely!). I am serious about my job (...most days!). I am serious about my money (aren't we all?!). I am serious about food (I seriously love to eat!). I am serious about sleeping (I love naps!). ... and that "serious" list could go on and on, but it could also be added to as there are many things I need to be much more serious about! One thing is for sure - seriously! - and that is that I am serious about my God! But now the question becomes, how serious?

Acrostic:

S - STEADFAST? Am I serious?

Ephesians 6:10-13 - "Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of His might, put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm."

E - EVENTUALLY or right now? Am I serious?

James 4:13-15 - "Come now, you who say, 'Today or tomorrow, we shall go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.' Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. Instead, you ought to say, 'If the Lord wills, we shall live and also do this or that.' "

R - REALLY? Am I serious?

James 1:22-25 - "But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. For if any one is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man shall be blessed in what he does."

I - I ... me? Am I serious?

Romans 8:5-8 - "For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so; and those who are in the flesh cannot please God."

O - OFFER ... myself? Am I serious?

2 Timothy 2:15 - "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth."

U - USE ... me? Am I serious?

Isaiah 6:8 - "Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, 'Whom shall I send and who will go for Us?' Then I said, 'Here am I. Send me!' "

S - STICK with it? Am I serious?

Romans 12:1-2 - "I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect."

SERIOUS! adj. 1) make important; 2) solemn; 3) earnest; 4) sincere ... am I? ... are you? Think about it! ... seriously!

Blessings!

THIS DAY'S . . .

Humility is the altar upon which God wishes us to offer him sacrifices.

~Francois de La Rochefoucauld

This Day's Verse

Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

~John 20:29
The New International Version

This Day's Smile

A violin-maker in the old days always chose the wood for his violins from the north side of the trees; it was the side upon which the wind and the storms had beaten. So he said when he heard the groaning of the trees in the forest at night he didn't feel sorry for them, for they were just learning to be violins.

Be Proactive

The more deeply we become involved in the life of God and the lives of others, the more we realize that, as beautiful as the things we contemplate might be, and as much as we might enjoy just hanging out with our friends, we are also expected to take an active role in our world.

"Catholicism, It's Your Story ...."

Inviting you all to look at "Catholicism, It's Your Story ...." . Appears to be an interesting offer and I am considering purchasing the DVD set.  We need to widen our vision of our Faith. Have a look-see and decide for yourselves.

This is being brought to you by WORD ON FIRE.

PEACE, LOVE & JOY
ABBEY

THIS DAY'S . . .

Kindness is just the word for [certain] small acts. Kindness is love flowing out in little gentlenesses. We ought to carry our lives so that they will be perpetual benedictions wherever we go. All we need for such a ministry is a heart full of love for Christ; for if we truly love Christ we shall also love our fellow men, and love will always find ways of helping. A heart filled with gentleness cannot be miserly of its benedictions.

~James R. Miller

This Day's Verse
The LORD is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
~Psalm 145:8
The English Standard Version

HEARTLIGHT

VERSE:
Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man, and fear thy God: I am the LORD.

~Leviticus 19:32

THOUGHT:
In an age where respect is little known and even less practiced, showing honor for those who are older is often overlooked. Yet in this place, by the LORD's own word, showing respect for the elderly ranks right up there with reverencing God. But then we shouldn't be surprised, since God made honoring parents the very first commandment (in the Ten Commandments -- Exodus 20) directed at our relationship with others -- the first four commandments were directed at our relationship with him!

PRAYER:
Holy and Eternal God, thank you for my parents in the flesh and in the faith. Please give those who have been my spiritual mentors a special blessing. Without their guidance, I'm not sure where I
would have ended up. Help me as I grow older to not only mature, but to also gain the character that will be needed by those whom you have placed before me to influence. May we, young and old
alike, restore dignity and respect to our relationships before you in our generation. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL - ACTUAL EXCHANGES B/T TOWER AND AIRCRAFT

Actual exchanges between pilots and control towers .
Tower: "TWA 2341, for noise abatement turn right 45 Degrees."
TWA 2341: "Center, we are at 35,000 feet. How much noise can
we make up here?"
Tower: "Sir, have you ever heard the noise a 747 makes when it
hits a 727?"
___________________________________

O'Hare Approach Control to a 747: "United 329
heavy, your traffic is a Fokker, one o'clock, three miles, Eastbound."
United 329: "Approach, I've always wanted to
say this....I've got the little Fokker in sight."
________________________________

A student became lost during a solo cross-country
flight. While attempting to locate the aircraft
on radar, ATC asked, "What was your last known position?"
Student: "When I was number one for takeoff."
________________________________

My personal favorite
A DC-10 had come in a little hot and thus had an
exceedingly long roll out after touching down.
San Jose Tower Noted: "American 751,
make a hard right turn at the end of the
runway, if you are able. If you are not able,
take the Guadeloupe exit off Highway 101, make a
right at the lights and return to the
airport."

A Pan Am 727 flight, waiting for start clearance in
Munich , overheard the following:
Lufthansa (in German):
"Ground, what is our start clearance time?"
Ground (in English): "If you want an answer
you must speak in English." Lufthansa (in English): "I am a German, flying
a German airplane, in Germany. Why must I speak English?"
Unknown voice from another plane (in a beautiful
British accent): "Because you lost the bloody war!"
___________________________________

Tower: "Eastern 702, cleared for takeoff, contact Departure on
frequency 124.7" Eastern 702: "Tower,
Eastern 702 switching to Departure. By the way,
after we lifted off we saw some kind of dead
animal on the far end of the runway."
Tower: "Continental 635, cleared for takeoff behind Eastern 702,
contact Departure on frequency 124.7.. Did you copy that report
from Eastern 702?"
Continental 635: "Continental 635, cleared for takeoff, roger; and yes, we
copied Eastern... we've already notified our caterers."

One day the pilot of a Cherokee 180 was told by the
tower to hold short of the active runway
while a DC-8 landed. The DC-8 landed,
rolled out, turned around, and taxied back
past the Cherokee. Some quick-witted comedian in
the DC-8 crew got on the radio and said,
"What a cute little plane. Did you make it all by
yourself?" The Cherokee pilot, not about to let the insult go
by, came back with a real zinger:
"I made it out of DC-8 parts. Another landing like yours
and I'll have enough parts for another
one."

The German air controllers at Frankfurt Airport are
renowned as a short-tempered lot. They not only
expect one to know one's gate parking location,
but how to get there without any assistance
from them. So it was with some amusement that we (a Pan
Am 747) listened to the following exchange between
Frankfurt ground control and a British Airways
747, call sign Speedbird 206.
Speedbird 206: " Frankfurt, Speedbird 206! clear of active runway."
Ground: "Speedbird 206.. Taxi to gate Alpha One-Seven."
The BA 747 pulled onto the main taxiway and slowed to a
stop.
Ground: "Speedbird, do you not know where you are
going?"
Speedbird 206: "Stand by, Ground, I'm looking up our gate location now."
Ground (with quite arrogant impatience) : "Speedbird 206, have you not been to Frankfurt
before?"
Speedbird 206 (coolly): "Yes, twice in 1944, but it was dark, -- And I didn't land."

While taxiing at London's Airport, the crew of a US
Air flight departing for Ft Lauderdale made a
wrong turn and came nose to nose with a United 727.
An irate female ground controller lashed out at the US
Air crew, screaming:"US Air 2771, where the hell are you going? I told
You to turn right onto Charlie taxiway! You turned right on Delta!
Stop right there. I know it's difficult for you to tell the difference between C and D,
but get it right!" Continuing her rage to the embarrassed crew, she was now
shouting hysterically: "God! Now you've screwed everything up! It'll take forever
to sort this out! You stay right there and don't move till I tell you to! You can expect
progressive taxi instructions in about half an hour, and I want you to
go exactly where I tell you, when I tell you, and how I tell you! You got that, US Air
2771?""Yes, ma'am," the humbled crew responded.
Naturally, the ground control communications frequency fell
terribly silent after the verbal bashing of US Air 2771.
Nobody wanted to chance engaging the irate ground
controller in her current state of mind. Tension
in every cockpit out around Gatwick was
definitely running high.. Just then an unknown
pilot broke the silence and keyed his microphone, asking:
"Wasn't I married to you once?"

HEARTLIGHT

VERSE:

Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to
requite it with thy hand: the poor committeth himself unto thee;
thou art the helper of the fatherless.
~Psalm 10:14

THOUGHT:

Those who take advantage of people who are powerless, who are
down on their luck, or who are in compromising situations, need to
know that God sees their actions and will hold them accountable.
Those who are in distress must keep their faith in God, trusting
that he sees, cares, and will send his help at the right time.
Those of us who fit neither category need to be working for the
deliverance and blessing of those who are facing difficulties and
hardships.

PRAYER:

Gracious God, please bless several people I know who are in
times of real distress and heartbreak. Please use me to minister to
them. But please, dear Father, fill them with your Spirit so they
will have the strength and courage necessary to endure. Bless them
with deliverance that is clearly from you, so that all will know
your grace and give glory to you. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

MINUTE MEDITATION

At the time of the ten year anniversary of 9/11, I know in my heart that we all need God! I don't want the victims to be forgotten, but the endless televised rehashing of that day have done nothing but depress me.  Take Jesus into your heart now, and hang onto what God has promised us in our afterlife, and endless, infinite paradise.

A FRANCISCAN'S PRAYER

A Franciscan's Prayer

By Daniel Horan, OFM
Thursday, May 05, 2011

“As a follower of Jesus Christ, I do not celebrate any human being’s violent death. My prayers go out to the entire world tonight. May the fear that has shaped our world in the last decade cease and may peace prevail. No more war. No more violence,” my Facebook status reads tonight.

On one hand, this news is something that is being lauded on many fronts. NBC Middle East correspondent Richard Engel congratulated the U.S. Special Forces troops that killed Osama Bin Laden and retrieved his lifeless body. It is news that is being hailed as triumphant and celebratory. And I can understand that. As a citizen of the United States, I can appreciate the ways in which the distorted religious and political views of this deceased man have irrevocably changed the landscape of our society.

Yet, I am a Christian. I cannot take joy, regardless of how much I am tempted to be swept up in the celebratory fervor of my fellow citizens, in the death of my brother in our human family. Yes, Osama Bin Laden committed some horrible, terrible things and led a movement that cannot be supported in any form. Nevertheless, he was a child of God no less than your neighbor, son, daughter or self.

Let us not forget that in addition to the more-than 3,000 people who have died on September 11, 2001, many thousands of more have died since that time here and abroad. More people will also die. And every human death, before its natural end, is a tragedy.

If we proclaim to be “prolife” and value the inherent dignity of every human being from conception to natural death, then we must temper our desire to gloat about the death of one man with the reality that any person’s violent and premature death is something to lament. No person’s death is an occasion to celebrate.

So, while many — perhaps most — of the United States will be celebrating this news, let all Christians, all Muslims, all Jews, all believers and non-believers — All members of the human family — pause and take this moment as an opportunity to say “never again!”

Never again to violence. Never again to fear. Never again to terrorism and the loss of lives in violent death, no matter who those people are.

May all find peace tonight.
