And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.

~Zechariah 14:9

"Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." Jesus taught us to pray for the day that the LORD would be recognized King over all the earth. We look forward to that, because our faith will be shown true and the LORD himself will be glorified as he should be. In a world of profanity, a world where God's name is blasphemed, every knee will bow and every tongue confess that he is not only LORD, but he is also incomparable without rival, that His name is the only name worthy of reverence, honor, and praise.

Great Almighty LORD, please work to bring yourself glory, not only in me, but in your people, and in our time of history. With all my heart I pray for your name to be reverenced in all the earth. Do mighty works that show your control and sovereignty to help your people bring others to call on your name and to praise your grace. In Jesus' holy and precious name I pray. Amen.

The Maker of all human beings (GOD) is recalling all units manufactured, regardless of make or year, due to a serious defect in the primary and central component of the heart.

This is due to a malfunction in the original prototype units code named Adam and Eve, resulting in the reproduction of the same defect in all subsequent units. This defect has been technically termed "Sub-sequential Internal Non-Morality," or more commonly known as S.I.N., as it is primarily expressed.

Some of the symptoms include:

1. Loss of direction
2. Foul vocal emissions
3. Amnesia of origin
4. Lack of peace and joy
5. Selfish or violent behavior
6. Depression or confusion in the mental component
7. Fearfulness
8. Idolatry
9. Rebellion

The Manufacturer, who is neither liable nor at fault for this defect, is providing factory-authorized repair and service free of charge to correct this defect.

The Repair Technician, JESUS, has most generously offered to bear the entire burden of the staggering cost of these repairs. There is no additional fee required.

The number to call for repair in all areas is: P-R-A-Y-E-R.

Once connected, please upload your burden of SIN through the REPENTANCE procedure. Next, download ATONEMENT from the Repair Technician, Jesus, into the heart component.

No matter how big or small the SIN defect is, Jesus will replace it with:

1. Love
2. Joy
3. Peace
4. Pat ience
5. Kindness
6. Goodness
7. Faithfulness
8. Gentleness
9. Self control

Please see the operating manual, the B.I.B.L.E. (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) for further details on the use of these fixes.

WARNING: Continuing to operate the human being unit without correction voids any manufacturer warranties, exposing the unit to dangers and problems too numerous to list and will result in the human unit being permanently impounded. For free emergency service, call on Jesus.

DANGER: The human being units not responding to this recall action will have to be scrapped in the furnace. The SIN defect will not be permitted to enter Heaven so as to prevent contamination of that facility. Thank you for your attention!

P.S. Please assist where possible by notifying others of this important recall notice, and you may contact the Father any time by 'Knee mail'!

Positive Thoughts

Love is an adventure of the soul.

This Day's . . .

It's a goodie!!

If only God would lean out of heaven and tell me [my children] are going to make it, I could relax. But God doesn’t do that. He tells us to be the parents he has called us to be in his strength and promises to do his part. Driven to prayer (after discovering that manipulation didn’t work), I began to realize I was only truly positive and confident when I’d been flat on my face before the Lord.

~Jill Briscoe

And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

~Isaiah 32:17

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

~2 Peter 3:9

Maranatha -- O Lord come! This cry of the early church, especially during times of trial, persecution, and difficulty must be tempered with the reminder that there is a lost world around us -- many of whom are dear friends and family. Our passion for the Lord's coming must be equaled by our passion to share his grace with those who have not "come to repentance" and have not changed their lives to serve the Lord who died to bring them life. Until he comes, let's commit to do his work of bringing others to repentance and salvation in him.

O great and patient God, please use all of your power and grace to bring my loved ones and dear friends to repentance so that when Jesus appears they can share in my joy and your salvation. In the name of Jesus the only Savior I pray. Amen.

This Day's . . .

Good morning world! Had a wonderful time in Georiga with Lee's mother, brother and sister-in-law this past weekend.  His birthday is tomorrow and I am planning a little party for him and family, complete with an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen! Today's messages are beautiful and taken into my heart, as I pray they will be yours.  Wishing everyone a blessed week, wherever you are!

A man should look after a happiness that will last as long as his soul lasts.

I will sing of the LORD’s great love forever, with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations. I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you established your faithfulness in heaven itself.

Queen of Peace - Medjugorje Apparitions

On June 25, 2010, for the 29th Anniversary of Our Lady's apparitions in Medjugorje, Our Lady gave her normal monthly message.

Monthly Message - June 25, 2010

“Dear children! With joy, I call you all to live my messages with joy; only in this way, little children, will you be able to be closer to my Son. I desire to lead you all only to Him, and in Him you will find true peace and the joy of your heart. I bless you all and love you with immeasurable love. Thank you for having responded to my call.”

Annual Apparition to Ivanka

The visionary Ivanka Ivankovic-Elez had her regular annual apparition on June 25th 2010. At her last daily apparition on May 7, 1985, Our Lady confided to Ivanka the 10th secret and told her that she would have an apparition once a year on the anniversary of the apparitions. It was that way also this year.

The apparition, which lasted 6 minutes, took place at Ivanka’s family home. Only Ivanka’s family was present at the apparition. After the apparition, Ivanka said: “Our Lady spoke to me about the fifth secret and, at the end, said: ‘Dear children, receive my motherly blessing.’

Our Lady also appeared to visionary Ivan on Apparition Hill at night.

If you are humble, nothing will touch you, neither praise nor disgrace, because you know what you are.

Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

~1 Corinthians 6:9-11

Welcome to my newest Follower! I absolutely love today's Heartlight - it is just so positive and when I read it, I knew this was going to be a great day!

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

~Isaiah 40:31

It is easy for us to live victoriously for the Lord when we soar on the wings of eagles. It can be exciting when we run and don't grow weary in the work of the Lord, buoyed by his power and presence. But it often takes heroes to keep walking and not faint when trying times come. Keep on walking brother and sister. The Lord is there when you most fear he has forgotten you!

Majestic God, whose voice holds together our universe, give those who can barely walk the strength to continue as they face the stress and assault of the evil one. I specifically want to pray for those I know personally who are facing trying times. Please, dear LORD, give them strength and meet their most pressings needs. Through Jesus, who conquered Satan, sin and death, and in the power of his holy name I pray. Amen.

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which alsoye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

~Colossians 3:15

I don't want to brag or make anybody jealous or anything, but I can still fit into the earrings I wore in high school.

Also, I found this poster for a new film coming to your town soon . . .

I Highly Suggest You Visit This Site

Neil Pasricha works an office job in the suburbs, eats frozen burritos for dinner, and needs to go to the gym more. He's just a regular guy who loves the smell of gasoline, sleeping on the cool side of the pillow, and peeling an orange in one shoot.  By the way, I have placed his blog on my sidebar where he actually numbered each and every "Awesome Thing" all the way to the 1,000th!

'The Book Of Awesome': 8 Awesome Things To Brighten Your Day (PHOTOS, POLL)

Hi Huffington Post readers,
My name is Neil Pasricha and I'm a no-name 30-year-old guy who started a tiny blog called 1000 Awesome Things back in June, 2008 with the goal of writing about one awesome thing every weekday.
I did this as my world was falling apart. In addition to all the bad news about melting ice caps, swirling hurricanes, and raging wars, like many of us I also had personal issues. My best friend took his own life and my wife and I went separate ways. We sold our house, I moved to a tiny apartment, and I tried to get things back on track by talking about one simple, universal little joy every single day -- like snow days, bakery air, or watching The Price Is Right when you're at home sick.
When I started the website I got excited when my mom forwarded it to my dad and the traffic doubled. Then I got excited when friends sent it to friends and strangers started sending me suggestions like: when cashiers open up new lanes at the grocery store, the smell of rain on a hot sidewalk, and waking up and realizing it's Saturday.
Over time the site started attracting millions of visitors, winning awards, and landed a book deal. This Spring The Book of Awesome comes out everywhere. I'm massively flattered, thankful, and appreciative that so many people like awesome things just as much as I do.
I hope you enjoy these excerpts from the book.
Thanks for reading and have a great day

The Pope in edgy new gay marriage artwork
by Simon Boyle
Published Wed 16 Jun 2010 20:00

This image of the Pope MARRYING two gay men is set to trigger a storm of protest in Ireland and around the world.

Entitled "You May Now Kiss The Groom", this edgy new artwork shows Pope Benedict XVI presiding over the wedding of two homosexuals.

Critically acclaimed Irish artist Kevin Sharkey produced the startling image after the Pontiff labelled gay marriage one of the most "insidious and dangerous" threats to the world today.

Donegal-born Sharkey, 47, says he hoped the work would put the Pope's claim in context, and show the couple in an innocent and inoffensive light.

The work goes on display at an exhibition of Sharkey's work in Dublin at the end of June, alongside other works in the Irishman's controversial collection.

The provocative artist caused a stir in 2009 with his image of glamour model Katie Price, merged with the face of notorious moors murderer Myra Hindley, entitled "Public Enemy Number One".

Sharkey said: "I got the idea for this piece when I read a newspaper headline, where the Pope had labelled gay marriage the biggest threat to our society.

"I am familiar with the traditional stance which the Catholic Church is expected to take, but I just felt condemning thousands of innocent people with such strong remarks is both unchristian and insulting.

"When I think all the evil in the World, from terrorism, to disease, to famine, I find it horrifying that a man with The Pope's incredible power and influence can only focus on something as minor as gay marriage.

"I think some of the recent revelations of disgraceful behaviour by Priests within the Catholic Church is much more evil and disturbing than two people who wish to formally express their love."

However, officials at the Roman Catholic church defended their leaders comments, labelling same sex unions "contrary to God's plan".

A spokesman for the church added: "God's plan for marriage includes the biological fact that a man and a woman can come together as male and female in a union that has the potential to generate new life.

"Same-sex unions, however, are incapable of realising the specific communion of persons that is marriage. Same-sex unions do not reflect the natural complementarity of man and woman through which the generation of new life becomes possible.

"Such unions are contrary to God's plan for sexual love which is intended for the relationship between husband and wife in marriage.

"Same-sex relationships by their very nature cannot be considered equal or almost equal to marriage."

This Day's . . .

The proof of who we are in Christ isn't how many folks have come to the Lord through us. It isn't how much we've contributed to the Lord's work. It isn't how sweetly we've sung his praises. It is, pure and simple, how we have loved each other.

Heartlight and Thoughts

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

~Ephesians 5:25-26

For husbands, there is sacrificial love in our purpose and purpose in our sacrifice. We give up ourselves to love our wives. Jesus is our example here, and he gave up everything. His purpose? To make us holy and beautiful to God. Our motives are to be equally as sacrificial and pure in surrendering our rights to bless and love our wives. As Paul reminds us in Ephesians 5:21, we too are to submit, but this does not mean pinelessness, it means service and sacrifice to bless and bring glory to Christ.

Holy God, help our families to be full of love and may this begin with me, today, in my family. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

It's summertime, at least in the northern hemisphere.  My dear friend Theresa at Aussie Coffee Shop lives far away in Australia, so they are having their winter as we enjoy our summer.  The weather in the Southeastern United States has been blistering.  We live in a humid climate and the 90+ degrees we've been having, with no breeze, has been stifling!  And my dear grandsons, Bailey and Riley, have been playing in All Stars baseball tournaments in this heat that feels more like the dog days of August!  We've all been troopers, however, and attended every game to cheer them on.  All of this ended today when the double elimination took them both out of the tournaments.  In a way, I am glad it's finished so we can not be on the run so much, but I absolutely LOVE watching them play the Great American Past-time.

Speaking of being busy, I notice that not everyone is posting regularly, and I worry that if I don't post every day, I might lose my readers.  However, according to my meter, I still have my following, even those who do not leave comments, and I am deeply grateful that you find something spiritual nourishment in my blog as evidenced by your repeated visits.

Thank You to everyone who comes by.  I had a hard time finding my niche, but I feel I am on the right path - that "narrow" path to righteousness and hopefully, and eternal reward of heaven.

As I sit here on my covered patio, we have had an absolutely torential rain storm, lightening and thunder.  It has served to cool us a bit so hubsy and I are spending this "quality time" together reading and relaxing.

I pray that each of you will have a blessed weekend doing whatever it is that you love the most!

Much love,

Abbey ♥

P.S.  Wishing all of the fathers out there a blessed and Happy Father's Day!!

I'm feeling better .... I hit the bottom on Wednesday.  I was up until 4 a.m. this morning, unable to sleep.  I went to the sofa, turned on the television, I went outside and looked at the stars, I went to my own bed, what, four times before I stayed there.  The last time I looked at the clock, it was nearly 4 a.m.  Go figure.  I awoke shortly after 10 a.m. this morning and I don't feel bad nor am I dragging around due to the late night.  I spent some time in this midst of all this to read several websites on FIBROMYALGIA, and I did read some things that I had forgotten.  I know what I need to do to keep those awful days at bay.  Pray for me to stay the course!

Love you all,

Life Lessons . . .

ONE . Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.

THREE . Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.

FOUR . When you say, 'I love you,' mean it.

FIVE . When you say, 'I'm sorry,' look the person in the eye.

SIX . Be engaged at least six months before you get married.

SEVEN . Believe in love at first sight.

EIGHT . Never laugh at anyone's dream. People who don't have dreams don't have much.

NINE . Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely.

TEN . In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling.

ELEVEN . Don't judge people by their relatives.

TWELVE . Talk slowly but think quickly.

THIRTEEN . When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer, smile and ask, 'Why do you want to know?'

FOURTEEN . Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk.

FIFTEEN . Say 'bless you' when you hear someone sneeze.

SIXTEEN . When you lose, don't lose the lesson!

SEVENTEEN . Remember the three R's: Respect for self; Respect for others; and responsibility for all your actions.

EIGHTEEN . Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.

NINETEEN . When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.

TWENTY . Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.

TWENTY-ONE . Spend some time alone.

Wisdom . . .

My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

~Proverbs 3:1-2

Positive Thoughts

A blessing is the bridge
between heaven and earth.

I'm off to see little Cooper today! He is one of my greatest blessings ... I talk to God and tell Him what a beautiful miracle this little boy and my other three grandchildren are.  They all fill my tanks when they are empty, bring a smile where there was once a frown, and take away worries just thinking about having them in my life!

Deep Thoughts . . .

As I was out and about today, on my way home actually, I had this gnawing at my guts and I grew remorseful about posting all my maladies and complaining so much publicly. I told myself, "as soon as you get home, remove that post from your blog," and thus I have done so.

I cannot blame anyone but moi for this human failure, and it is not new to me, unfortunately.  I bear my soul to the world that I live in.  I'm so up front and forthcoming that I sometimes fail to use the requisite judgment in certain situations with people.

I guess I'll begin journaling again and vent there ... I threw out my journal from my final years in Los Angeles when I was in my mid-twenties and I have regretted that many times.  I was fanatical about journaling; I was going through some very severe hurt and my emotions bottomed out.  Journaling was cathartic because I could go back, say, one week and see where I was emotionally and mentally, and oftentimes I had to laugh at myself.

For today, however, please forgive whatever needs forgiving ... my heart hangs on my sleeve and it is secured by something so strong that it is impossible to remove it and put it in a safer place ....

Peace, Love & Joy,
Abbey ♥

Proud To Be A Texan

I was raised from the age of five in Amarillo, Texas.  I am and will always be a Texan at heart.  This story from Texas captured my heart.  May God bless this beautiful man for honoring the fallen soldiers at their burials!

I AM . . .

... NOT MYSELF ...
stop reading here and move down
to Heartlight ... and This Day's ...

I would love to change the world .... but I'm not myself lately.  I am at a point where I have to psyche myself into rising from bed.  I lay there for half an hour this morning, awake but trying hard to go back to sleep.  I don't want to face the world, do what seems "required" ... I have been on a change in medication cycle, and the end result will be great; but, in the meantime and as expected, I'm in a real slump.  I don't like to complain to my husband or to my children.  They love, but why bring them down with me?  I have not prayed as much as I usually do; I feel so guilty about this, and when I think of it, I say a silent prayer asking forgiveness.  The mind is a complicated thing.  One KNOWS what is happening, yet one is helpless to "fix it" ... one must follow the road where it leads and trust that the light at the end of this abysmal tunnel is coming into view soon.

I'm venting, and if you're not depressed by now - it's probably because you haven't read the preceding diatribe.  And thus, I advise you to not tread backward, but continue forward and down to the beautiful words of our life handbook - The Bible.  I'll try to not impose this doom upon you again; but, somehow wanted you to know WHY I have not been posting as frequently as I have been known to do.  If I don't have something POSITIVE to say, then I just won't say a thing .... do not feel sorry for me, for drawing you into a sympathy trip is NOT my aim ... venting is all that is required and now, I will go and make shorts from trousers as my husband has patiently awaited for a week now.

Have a blessed day, and please do read Heartlight and This Day's below.

For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.

~Philippians 3:20

No matter what your passport says, if you are a Christian, there is no earthly country that can hold you, no borders that can claim you, and no flag that flies above you but Jesus and the Kingdom of Heaven. You have more in common with the believing aboriginal
tribesman of Indonesia, the Christian refugee in Africa, the Bedouin brother in Egypt, the Spirit-filled Brazilian housewife, the high rise business person in Hong Kong who bows to pray in Jesus name, than you do your next door neighbors if they don't know Christ as Lord and Savior.

Glorious God and Almighty Father, I look forward to the day when people from every tribe, nation, and language join the angels and elders around your throne and worship you in joy forever. Make us one, if not here, then soon. We ask you Lord Jesus, please come.

Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

I don’t like the man who doesn’t sleep, says God.
Sleep is the friend of man.
Sleep is the friend of God.
Sleep is perhaps the most beautiful thing I have created.
And I myself rested on the seventh day.
He whose heart is pure, sleeps. And he who sleeps has a pure heart.

The Girl With Four Boyfriends

Once upon a time there was a girl who had four boyfriends.

She loved the fourth boyfriend the most and adorned him with rich robes and treated him to the finest of delicacies. She gave him nothing but the best.

She also loved the third boyfriend very much and was always showing him off to neighboring kingdoms. However, she feared that one day he would leave her for another.

She also loved her second boyfriend. He was her confidant and was always kind, considerate and patient with her. Whenever this girl faced a problem, she could confide in him, and he would help her get through the difficult times.

The girl's first boyfriend was a very loyal partner and had made great contributions in maintaining her wealth and kingdom. However, she did not love the first boyfriend. Although he loved her deeply, she hardly took notice of him!

One day, the girl fell ill and she knew her time was short. She thought of her luxurious life and wondered, 'I now have four boyfriends with me, but when I die, I'll be all alone.'

Thus, she asked the fourth boyfriend, 'I loved you the most, endowed you with the finest clothing and showered great care over you. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?'

'No way!', replied the fourth boyfriend, and he walked away without another word. His answer cut like a sharp knife right into her heart.

The sad girl then asked the third boyfriend, 'I loved you all my life. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?'

'No!', replied the third boyfriend. 'Life is too good! When you die, I'm going to marry someone else!' Her heart sank and turned cold.

She then asked the second boyfriend, 'I have always turned to you for help and you've always been there for me. When I die, will you follow me and keep me company?'

'I'm sorry, I can't help you out this time!', replied the second boyfriend. 'At the very most, I can only walk with you to your grave.' His answer struck her like a bolt of lightning, and the girl was devastated.

Then a voice called out: 'I'll go with you. I'll follow you no matter where you go.' The girl looked up, and there was her first boyfriend. He was very skinny as he suffered from malnutrition and neglect. Greatly grieved, the girl said, 'I should have taken much better care of you when I had the chance!'

In truth, you have four boyfriends in your lives:

Your fourth boyfriend is your body. No matter how much time and effort you lavish in making it look good, it will leave you when you die.

Your third boyfriend is your possessions, status and wealth. When you die, it will all go to others.

Your second boyfriend is your family and friends. No matter how much they have been there for you, the furthest they can stay by you is up to the grave.

And your first boyfriend is your spirit. Often neglected in pursuit of wealth, power and pleasures of the world. However, your spirit is the only thing that will follow you where ever you go. Cultivate, strengthen and cherish it now, for it is the only part of you that will follow you to the throne of God and continue with you throughout Eternity.

Thought for the day:

Remember, when the world pushes you to your knees, you're in the perfect position to pray.

Kindly pass this on to someone you care about - I just did.

Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect. It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfections.

Thank you, my dear friend, Sid,
for sending this to me!

Pope Benedict Asks Forgiveness

Pope begs forgiveness, promises action on abuse
By NICOLE WINFIELD, Associated Press

VATICAN CITY – Pope Benedict XVI begged forgiveness Friday from abuse victims for the sins of priests and promised to "do everything possible" to ensure that Roman Catholic clerics don't rape or molest children ever again.

Benedict's pledge was similar to comments he has made in the past. But it was uttered in the highly symbolic setting of a Mass in St. Peter's Square, concelebrated by 15,000 white-robed priests, all marking the end of the Vatican's Year of the Priest — a year marred by revelations of hundreds of new cases of clerical abuse, cover-ups in several nations and Vatican inaction to root out pedophiles.

Another "Obamanation" from The White House

This video clip is from a local radio show in Birmingham, Alabama called "Rick 'n Bubba".  I felt implored to post it for you to see just how awful it can get, just when we believe there is no more horrific thing that the man some call our "President" and his constiuents can do.  I'm writing the White House today; I'm so disgusted!  Jesus did not die for this!

Jesus and The Apostles: Peter

And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishers.  And he saith unto them,  "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."  That was Peter's call to be an Apostle.  his answer was to immediately leave his nets and go with Jesus.

Peter, like so many of the members of Christ's church, let his weaknesses show.  He argued, let his temper rage, bragged, ccursed, slashed out with his sword, and finally -- he denied Jesus, Himself.  Imperfect? Yes! But this imperfect Simon, by the power of God, became "Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone" (John 1:42)

Through the Gospels, the books of Peter, and in the first half of Acts, we can see the leadership of this fisherman as he gradually carried the story of Christ beyond Judaism into the Gentile world.

Throughout the world, there are numerous churches which have been built honoring the great evangelical efforts of Peter, and he founded many of them himself.  Persia, Britain, Gaul, Babylon and Rome are places in which Peter probably traveled, preached, ministered and organized.

Twice imprisoned in Rome, most historians agree, Peter was also martyred there.  He met his death by being crucified with arms extended but head downward.  Tradition tells us that Peter and Paul were put to death on the same day in Rome, though in different parts of the city.  Peter's death, however, cam only after an imprisonment of nine months in the horrible and dreaded jails of the Mamertime.  He existed there in absolute darkness, forced to stand at all times because he was chained to aqn upright post in the center of a cell which was never cleaned.  He endured vicious torture by experts at their craft.  It seems impossible that he could have survived those terrible months to face his death on that inverted cross. Peter not only lived through those long days -- he, with an undaunted evangelical fervor, converted to Christ his two jailers and forty-seven others in the prison.

Peter was probably the oldest of the Twelve . . . that was it!

I wanted to paint this fifty year-old, work-hardened fisherman at the instant in the Gospel of John (21:11) when Peter laid hold of his net, and, with one eye on his Lord, pulled thos fish ashore just as he would do so many times afterward as a fisher of men.

Finding the right model for Peter was not a simple task.  I finally began to drop hints to others abou the kind of man I needed.  Word soon drifted in from several places, "Go see Don Parker."  See him, I did; and paint him, I did.

Don was born in Massachusetts, raced motorcycles as a profession in the state of Florida, seerved in both the Navy and Air Force, and now lives a rather quiet life with his wife and three children.

When I met the man Don Parker, I sensed an explosive power within him -- the power I wanted for this Big Fisherman.

My Own Series!

Beginning tomorrow, I will be posting a series from "The Apostles" by Kenneth Wyatt.  I found this compilation extraordinary and I cannot wait to share it with you!  Following is the Introduction to this series, by Kenneth Wyatt.

To pick  up a brush, touch it to a dab of paint, reach up to the canvas and then begin to create an image, which I pray will mean something to others as well as myself, is always a moment of real challenge and excitement.  First, as I begin painting The Apostles, I felt the exuberance of actually starting and a determination to do my best.  Next, came my complete commitment to the long months of involvement with these paintings and, yet, a fear of doing this holy task.  Most important of all, I felt joy for the opportunity of serving God and His Church.
That moment of beginning is a lot of dabs of paint and many prayers ago, but all fourteen paintings are finished -- my concept of Jesus and the first ones He drew around Himself:
Bartholomew -- the Gentle One.
Simon -- full of fire.
Andrew -- quiet and steady . . . and, so they went.
Each one different, each one a challenge, each one taking shape on the woven threads of cloth, with layer upon layer of paint until that Apostle looked out from the canvas onto the world that he was called by Christ to save and serve.

Some of the Apostles were easy to paint -- Paul literally leaped from the brush.  A few, like Philip, seemed determined to hide forever in the colors of the paint, and they had to be almost physically twisted from the tubes.  The first to be painted was Thomas -- the last, Christ.  Observers have asked: "How did you know which to paint next?" or "How did you know which face to pain for which Apostle?"  I really have no answer, except to assure them, that after my extensive research on each Apostle, God always seemed to supply the model.

You will observe as you read [this book], that my models came from many locations and from many walks of life.  Jesus selected His followers in much the same way: He called on from the tax tables, another from the carpenter's trade, a few from the sea, and still others from tents, houses and deserts.

I present to you Jesus and His Apostles as I saw them in my mind and felt them in my heart.  The sequent of this presentation is from the sixth chapter of The Gospel of Luke.

"And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles."

Guess who I saw today?  Cooper is five months and 3 days old!

He is so perfect ... only God can create this.

This Day's . . .

Joy is a deep spiritual union with the unchanging God. A man’s life, said Jesus Christ, is not fulfilled, nor is it filled full of, nor by, the abundance of things which he possesses. Here is one of the most important statements ever given to a bewildered, heart-hungry world. Joy, then, is a living spring hidden deep in the inner life that is no more dependent upon things than the sunrise is dependent upon a cock’s crowing. (emphasis added)

You are my God, and I will give you thanks; you are my God, and I will exalt you. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

~Psalm 118:28-29

Habit is a cable; we weave a thread of it every day, and at last we cannot break it.

~Horace Mann

Isn't It Ironic?

Don't you just love irony?  This sign was posted at a BP gas station .....

That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

~Ephesians 3:17-19

Love that surpasses knowledge. That's very difficult to explain, but when you have loved your spouse for decades and he or she is as close to you as any bodily organ, you experience what this means.  When you love a child and do what you never dreamed you could do for another human being, you understand this phrase. And when you stand before God, adopted as a full heir of all his great riches, a full sibling to Jesus Christ the Lord, and know you are seen as holy, without reproach, and blameless, you begin to understand this phrase.

Holy and incredible God, help me to know in my soul the love that is greater than words and knowledge so that I may not only be like you, but that I may know you in experience just as I know you in faith. Through Jesus I pray. Amen.

1500th POST

Dear Ones,

This is my 1,500th post since beginning this particular blog.  My old blog, gee, I cannot even remember on what host it was, and I didn't save my posts.  I was run off by someone who had been leaving me some hatefilled messages, so I just left and came here.  Wow, 1,500, that's a lot, but I write just like I talk, so on the other hand, it's not surprising.

It is good to be HOME again ... we left last Thursday afternoon headed to a local lake where my best friend, known as "Fannie D. Brown" and her dog "Charlie Brown" make their home.  Fannie has a beautiful place, as I have written in the past and posted photographs.  Thursday evening was cocktails and then a beautiful and tasty spring salad with mandarin oranges, pineapple, jerk chicken, slivered almonds and honey mustard dressing.  YUM!  We mostly hung loose on Friday; rain was "iffy" and there was a nice breeze off the water, so we sat down underneath the covered patio by the water and munched on artichoke dip, spinich dip, pigs-in-a-blanket and chips ...  by dinner time, none of us was hungry.  We spent the better part of yesterday in the water, going from Fannie's place up river to a small cove that we seem to have claimed all for ourselves.  It's a perfect place to tie up, but nobody is ever there; they pass, but the never come in.  Last night's meal was lasagna, salad and garlic bread  .... I had two helpings! HOLLA!

I pass on Our Lady's message to Mirjana in Medjugorie this past June 2, 2010.  Have a very blessed day!

Message to Mirjana - June 2, 2010

Our Lady appeared to the visionary Mirjana Soldo this morning, June 2, 2010, in Medjugorje. She gave the following message:

"Dear children, today I call you, with fasting and prayer, to clear the way by which my Son will enter into your hearts. Accept me as a mother and a messenger of God's love and of His desire for your salvation. Free yourself of everything from the past which burdens you and gives you a sense of guilt; of everything that brought you to error - darkness. Accept the light. Be born anew in the justice of my Son. Thank you."

As usual, Our Lady blessed all the religious articles. Mirjana also reported seeing a white dove when Our Lady was leaving; Mirjana interpreted the dove as the Holy Spirit.
