Joyful Are the Little Ones

I am so happy that my BEST friend sent this to me . . . it is a MUST SEE! If it doesn't warm your heart and bring a smile to your face . . . you are not living and breathing  . . .

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

~Isaiah 53:5-6

I don't know how Jesus could stand up under its weight. He had my sin, your sin, our sin. He allowed it to be placed upon him so that we would not have to bear the ultimate consequences of it at all. But in that sacrifice, as horrible as it was, we find ourselves healed -- cured of the most awful disease a person can have, a sin-sick soul. He was pierced, crushed, and punished for our sins. In their place, he has left us his transforming peace and a place to belong.

God of peace, fill my soul with the wonder of your grace. Let me not forget the cost of your love. Stir in me the constant and abiding memory of your redemptive grace. Thank you. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

The Dying Priest

In Washington , D.C. an old priest lay dying in the hospital. For years he had faithfully served the people of the nation's capital and was well known among the elected officials. He motioned for his nurse to come near.

"Yes, Father?" said the nurse.

"I would really like to see President Obama and Speaker Pelosi before I die", whispered the priest.

"I'll see what I can do, Father", replied the nurse.

The nurse sent the request to The President and Congress and waited for a response. Soon the word arrived; President Obama and Nancy Pelosi would be delighted to visit the priest.

As they went to the hospital, Obama commented to Pelosi, "I don't know why the old priest wants to see us, but it will certainly help our images and might even get me re-elected."

Pelosi agreed that it was a good thing.

When they arrived at the priest's room, the priest took Obama's hand in his right hand and Pelosi's hand in his left hand. There was silence and a look of serenity on the old priest's face.

Finally President Obama spoke. "Father, of all the people you could have chosen, why did you choose us to be with you as you near the end?"

The old priest slowly replied, "I have always tried to pattern my life after our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."

"Amen", said Obama.

"Amen", said Pelosi.

The old priest continued, "Jesus died between two lying thieves; I would like to do the same."

My thanks to Gardenia at My Little Flower for providing the following article.  I implore you to read for yourself.

Scoundrel Time(s)

Mar 29, 2010
George Weigel

The sexual and physical abuse of children and young people is a global plague; its manifestations run the gamut from fondling by teachers to rape by uncles to kidnapping-and-sex-trafficking. In the United States alone, there are reportedly some 39 million victims of childhood sexual abuse. Forty to sixty percent were abused by family members, including stepfathers and live-in boyfriends of a child’s mother—thus suggesting that abused children are the principal victims of the sexual revolution, the breakdown of marriage, and the hook-up culture. Hofstra University professor Charol Shakeshaft reports that 6-10 percent of public school students have been molested in recent years—some 290,000 between 1991 and 2000. According to other recent studies, 2 percent of sex abuse offenders were Catholic priests—a phenomenon that spiked between the mid-1960s and the mid-1980s but seems to have virtually disappeared (six credible cases of clerical sexual abuse in 2009 were reported in the U.S. bishops’ annual audit, in a Church of some 65,000,000 members).  (Read the entire article . . .)

I had the cutest picture that was to go with this link, but I think blogger is having an issue with photos today - I haven't been able to download any.  SO, all of you sweet-taters out there, click on the link and enjoy!

I remain deeply concerned and appalled that our Mother Church is being singled out and attacked in whole. We are quite aware of the indiscretions of the leaders of other "churches", and at this juncture, it is complete conjecture to accuse our dear Pope Benedict XVI of these improprieties. There is so much being said in the media, and like politics, the general public will take a crumb as "gospel" and "the longer the spoke, the greater the tire".

I remember playing a game as a child.  Perhaps it was in Brownies or Girl Scouts where we all sat in a circle.  The first person was given a line of words to whisper to the next girl, and that girl whispered it to the next, and then the next did in kind until it had gone 'round full circle.  What happened?  The line was missing words, had new words inserted, and sounded nothing like the beginning line.

My friends, keep this in mind when you are listening to and reading media propoganda - WHICH SELLS and makes them rich.  The news media are nothing short of greedy hounds-in-waiting for that morsel of negativity that they spin into sensationalized reporting.  That was and is not their role.  Their role is to seek truth and report FACTS, not inuendo and guesswork.  It is difficult, but then our Heavenly Father has told us that these things will occur, we will be persecuted, all of us in all faiths, and that we must remain faithful to our Church and continue our prayers for all involved.

Never cease your prayers.  They will bring change, and they will bring comfort to you.

All need to remember our precious Mother Church, our Pope, the victims and the perpetrators in prayer. God will deliver us from this evil.

Thanks be to God and Amen,

THIS DAY'S . . .

GOOOOOOOOD MORNING, my beautiful friends in Christ! I have the most wonderful "This Day's . . ." for you today! Today begins Holy Week, as you all know, so give ALL of your heart and the glory to our Heavenly Father.  Imagine giving up your own son (or daughter) in the way that the Father did, knowing they would be crucified in such a barbaric way.  Imagine being Jesus, who asked His Father if there were any way that this cup could pass Him by.  Imagine knowing the pain and the agony, the pure passion of Jesus, and then . . . finding his burial tomb empty and watching His spirit rise to the heavens in Glory.  What a magnificent and awing thing.  Imagine that over 2,000 years, this single story called The Bible has stayed with us, carried us, was our rock and our boat in stormy seas, and that God fulfills his promises every day by answering YOUR and my prayers.  HAPPY HOLY WEEK, EVERY ONE OF YOU.  Spread the love everywhere you go, in everything that you do . . .  .

In His Service,

The message of Easter cannot be written in the past tense. It is a message for today and the days to come. It is God's message which must echo through your lives.

~Frank Getty

Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

~Matthew 26:36-39, The King James Version

Make people wish the gospel were true ... and then show them that it is.

Putting Things in Perspective

I stumbled on another blog, A Catholic Citizen in America, and an article that gave a clearer perspective about Priests and ephebophilia.  Don't feel inept if you don't know the word or its meaning, I didn't either until I read:

Priests Behaving Badly, Ephebophilia, and Statistics
It bothers me when I don't know the meaning of a word, or know that something has a name, but I don't know what it is. It bothers me a lot.
That happened while I was writing another post today. ("Saints, the Catholic Church, and Pedophile Priests" (March 25, 2010)) What particularly bothered me was being pretty sure that I'd run across the term for adults who have a disordered sexual interest in adolescents. Fairly recently.  (Read more...)

Message of March 25th Through Marija

Message of March 25, 2010

The visionary Marija received the following message from Our Lady today:

"Dear children! Also today I desire to call you all to be strong in prayer and in the moments when trials attack you. Live your Christian vocation in joy and humility and witness to everyone. I am with you and I carry you all before my Son Jesus, and He will be your strength and support. Thank you for having responded to my call."

Sadly and regretfully, I found a hate "comment" in my mailbox this morning that was directed specifically at our faith. I cannot fathom that someone has nothing better to do with their life IN NEWARK, NEW JERSEY than to find a child of God on the internet, one who is spreading His Word, His Joy and His Promises, and say something so vile and hateful. I never thought I'd feel the trickle down of such hatred. It made me sad, but I will lift up my cross and I will pray for this person. I have, thankfully, a way of blocking IP Addresses and I have blocked this one.

THIS DAY'S . . .

I've been on a mission helping out a friend in need today, so I'm a little behind on things. I love 'This Day's Thought'.  Personally, I have always felt that when life deals one a disturbing circumstance, the sooner you get to the bottom, the only way to go is "UP" . . . Mr. Huxley certainly had his hand on the heartbeat of emotions.

A deep plunge into the waters of sorrow is the hopefullest way of getting through them on one's daily road of life again. No one can help another very much in these crises of life; but love and sympathy count for something.

~Thomas Henry Huxley

Therefore, if any one is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.

~2 Corinthians 5:17-19, The Revised Standard Version

Good morning all of you wonderful people out there! I slept so good . . . I've heard that is the sign of a clear conscience (??) . . . lol . . . I'm up early and already have Heartlight for you. It's about reconciliation . . . I won't divulge how long it's been since I went to confession, but I'm going next week. I know that I'm going to feel even better when I purge all that bad stuff, Thanks Be To Our God! Here's Heartlight for you . . .

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

~1 John 1:9

We can be forgiven of our sins! That's great, but there's even better news. We can be purified of any stain from sin!! That's incredible: not only am I forgiven, but I'm also made clean and new again! But only because of God's grace and perfect sacrifice for
our sins.

Forgiving Father, please forgive me today for my lack of passion to love and forgive others in the way you have so graciously forgiven me. Create in me a heart like your own: faithful, forgiving, and gracious. In the precious name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

My Dear Friends:How was your day today? Good? If you have lived to read this, then count your blessings and give thanks for another day living and walking in the spirit!

I had the most awesome day!  I awoke to a light shining from down my hallway.  I thought, "since when does Hubbsy leave a light on for me when he leaves for work?"  It wasn't even 7:00 (I was sleeping in today).  I got up to check it out and found that it was the brightest sun shining through the blinds!  Of course, I got all excited and couldn't wait for the coffee to brew. Hubbsy makes my coffee every morning before he leaves for work.  Think: BROWNIE POINTS!

I went through the house and opened every blind and raised several windows to let the fresh air in. Speaking of fresh air, who can remember who sang that song, "Fresh Air" . . . come on you boom babies. NO FAIR GOOGLING!! Be honest if you know and/or (it would be nice if. . .) you want to take a guess. It's one of my favorites.

Now I'm on to music . . . I listened to XM 60's Revolution all the way down to my son's house . . . I just don't get cranked about any genre than when I listen to 60's music . . . The Shirelles, Three Dog Night, Leslie Gore, The Association, early Beatles, Paul Revere & The Raiders (ooooooh, I had a crush on Mark Lindsay), um, the Turtles, The Grass Roots . . . then the 70's . . . o-wow!  I heard Dave Mason's version of "All Along the Watch Tower" and I haven't heard that in years!

I did spend the entire day at Kerry's.  I picked up Zaxby's Zensation salads and large teas on the way.  Baby Cooper was not himself.  He has been constipated, and slept just about the entire day.  But I love holding him when he's sleeping; watching his lips move, sometimes making a little grin and I'm thinking, "he's having so much fun playing with the Angels!"

Now you know why I didn't post my Inspirations for today . . .

I think Obamination signed the executive order today with respect to federal funding of abortion (yours and my tax dollars) . .  but I've also learned that this is another facade .  .  . that it is not worth the paper it is written on.  It can be removed upon [his] whim . . . ever wonder why Obamination does a follow-up visit to foreign countries soon as the SOS (Sec of State, but for me is definitely a distress signal!) leaves from meeting with them?  Probably because Hillary Clinton hasn't a horrid approach! You know, that demanding stuff - it's been on the news, but then, we can't trust the news media. Hrmph! Bottom line, Obamination is doing damage control.

And how about our illustrious Veep? This guy is such a dweeb ... he ran for President how many times? Not sure, but it WAS multiple times, and he wasn't elected. HELLO!! His "ph-ing" is disgusting!! This is not the first snafu that the Dweeb has stuffed both feet in his mouth at the same time! Between Dweeb and Clintonia, could it be that the election of Obamination was pure luck? Naw!

I am praying for the "leaders" of our country, whoever they may be, because Lord knows that I sure as hell don't know who's running the show. I also pray my poor heart makes it throught this regime known as The President of the United States of America. The rest of the world is either laffin or planning the most advantageous attack against us. I am seriously concerned with how the world is digesting all of this.  There are so very many who wish us harm.

Not to worry! We have our faith, we have our Loving Father and His Graces, we have His Son, Jesus Christ, whose death and resurrection celebration is fast approaching! Did I tell you how excited I am for Holy Week? I received our schedule from our parish and it is my personal goal to participate in SOMETHING at Church every day! I'm going all in; complete RENEWAL! Gosh it feels great to say that and know it is there for the taking!
Turn to the next person you see and say something nice or loving to them. It will make their day, and yours.

Blessings, Everyone,

Obama would not keep his word? I am struggling with this late news.  Never in my lifetime have I seen a U.S. President pull such a act of deceit against the people of this country.  Just read for yourself, and KEEP PRAYING FOR THE BABIES!

Time "Change(s)" Everything . . .

I borrowed this from my sweet daughter:

Over five thousand years ago, Moses said to the children of Israel, "pick up your shovel, mount your asses and camels, and I will lead you to the promised land". Nearly 75 years ago, Roosevelt said, "Lay down your shovels, sit on your asses, and light up a camel, this is the promised land". Now Obama has stolen your shovel, taxed your asses, raised the price of camels and mortgaged the promised land!

THIS DAY'S . . .

I lost a dear friend in November 2006 to a Grade III Astrocytoma (brain tumor), but Cathy's devotion to God, the Blessed Mother and all of the Saints was unlike anything I'd ever witnessed.  Here was this 42 year-old woman, three children, great husband, great life, and she was dying, no matter how hard she fought.  But the thing about Cathy was that she was willing, if that was what God wanted.  She wrote to me in an email that I wish I'd never deleted, something resembling This Day's Thought.  We are all like flowers in God's garden.  He nourished us, he raised us, and he walks through life with us.  But, sometimes the flowers are just so pretty that he cannot help but take a few home with him.  Cathy considered it an honor and blessing to be chosen by God for this trial, and its ultimate ending, which was the true beginning of Cathy's life with her Loving Father, whom she had adored all of her life.

One should gather a little nosegay of devotion. My meaning is as follows: Those who have been walking in a beautiful garden do not leave it willingly without taking away with them four or five flowers, in order to inhale their perfume and carry them about during the day: even so, when we have considered some mystery in meditation, we should choose one or two or three points in which we have found most relish, and which are specially proper to our advancement, in order to remember them throughout the day, and to inhale their perfume spiritually. Now we should do this in the place where we have made our meditation, either staying where we are, or walking about alone for a little while afterwards.

~Francis de Sales

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

~Matthew 11:28-30, The New International Version

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

~James 1:12

Only Christians win at life. That's because none of us who is human has the power to hold back our awful enemy, death. But when we have persevered, we are given the ultimate victory: LIFE that will not end because our lives are in the hands of the one who
defeated death!

Thank you Father, for sending your Son to defeat the power of death and provide me the ultimate victory. In Jesus' name I praise you. Amen.

Does anyone out there know what has happened to "Fight of Your Life"  blog?  It says I must have permission and to ask the author for permission.  The title of the last post leads one to believe the blog was being shut down.  I don't know ... I just want to be sure all are safe and well.

If you know anything, leave me a comment.

Once Upon A Time Recipe

I am participating with Cathy at A Bit of Blarney in posting some of our favorite recipes from once upon a time.  My mother love to bake.  She spends almost every hour of every day in her kitchen.  She bakes and bakes, and then she bakes some more.  She gives just about all of it away - to sick friends, to dad's office, to people who have lost loved ones or those who are homebound.  So here is one my favorites from Mama's kitchen.

Since we are on the verge of spring and then summer, I'll offer you something that is cool and delicious!

Breezy Easy Lemon Fruit Freeze

2/3 Cup oleo
1/3 Cup sugar
4 Cups Rice Krispies

Mix all of the above together and press into the bottom of a sheath pan.  Bake at 300 degrees for 12 minutes.   (You may also substitute graham cracker crust.)

1 can Eagle Brand milk
1/2 Cup real lemon juice
1 - 21 oz. lemon pie filling
1 - 17 oz. fruit cocktail (drained)

Mix all of the above together and pur over crust.  Top this with 2 Cups whipped topping. You may garnish with lemon wedges and springle lightly with Rice Krispies.  Keep refregerated.

Now doesnt that sound easy?

I knew it was out there ... safely back home on my blog background!

As of when I JUST checked 8:25 a.m. CDST, I have had 2,700 views since January 2007 when I originated this, my second blog.  Though there are no comment stats, they must be a drop in the bucket in comparison.  Does that mean that most people who visit don't like what they're reading? or are they shy?

Speaking of "bucket", I'm curious, how many of you have a "bucket list", written either on paper or in your memory banks?  I didn't realize I had a "bucket list" until I began experiencing things that I considered "one-in-a-lifetime" and thus, I consider them checked off of the list.  For instance, when I saw The Rolling Stones, I stood there screaming at my girlfriend (I was about 40 years old), "I can't believe I'm in Mick Jagger's aura!!" I didn't go see Clapton when he was here a few years ago and so I'm afraid I might have missed that one.  Same goes for James Taylor.  And now, Van Morrison is coming next month and the tickets are so expensive that I don't want to spend the money; let me rephrase that, since I'm not working, it's not a good idea to splurge or we would.  He is truly a rarity and I'll bet he never tours again, not in these parts.

I just realized the second thing about my bucket list: it is comprised of musicians that I have loved all of my life.  Nothing else.  As I sit here and try to think of other bucket list things, I have none other than making it to heaven and that, happily, consumes all of my focus and way of life.  I cannot take Mick Jagger or Van Morrison with me to heaven; I can't even muster any worry over their souls; that is their responsibility.  Living a life worthy of an eternal reward is not what I consider "work", it is just a happier existence overall.  Praise God!

So, I am a little embarrassed that I spewed my thoughts about Pe-lucy last night.  I'm totally non-violent, honest! I feel that her being a member of the Catholic faith and her behavior are a dichotomy.  Obviously, I do not know the woman, nor do I care to know her.  I'm sure I'm one of the "little ones" who "just pay taxes" . . . like the taxes to fly her on her own airplane coast to coast twice per week.

I need some good prayer sessions . . . and they need never cease.

On an even more downer side, a friend of 25+ years from our old Parish has been diagnosed with lymphoma.  Is it just me that I notice more people my age dying, more specifically, people in my life?  This lady is a real sweetheart.  She and her husband also raised a wonderful Catholic man who married and just had his second child.  Please keep Pauline B. in your prayers.  She is beginning chemotherapy today.

In thanksgiving, I write that I had my ENTIRE family here yesterday afternoon.  We were celebrating Kerry and Amber's birthdays, and it was Cooper's first visit to Mimi's.  Not to forget that my other child and her family just returned from Disneyworld, so they were all yelling "Mimi! Mimi!" at the same time, trying to get my attention to tell me something about their trip.  It was a purely joyous day.  I made Mississippi Mud, which I sent home with Kerry and Amber to curtail my sneaking into it.  Pictures below are from yesterday.

I just learned that nearly every State in the Union is planning to either sue on the Constitutionality of the healthcare Bill or write their own State level amendments to avoid being bound to this Bill.  YAY!  Listen y'all, I KNOW there are so many who need healthcare, but I just feel that this Bill is wrong on so many levels, and it is going to destroy the small people like me, if not this entire country. I do not believe in socialism and for me, Obama wreaks of it.  HOWEVER, the Bible prophesizes a certain end and perhaps this is just one more nail in the coffin and there will be no way around it's affects, whether we write state amendments or whatever, we are ALWAYS going to be embroiled in battle.  I just never expected it to be on our own soil, among our own people.

"Let's see the pictures, Abbey!"
Here they come!

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

~Ephesians 6:10-11

Many of the struggles in our lives are not mere accidents! Many of them are not put there by God. Our challenges often come from the hand of our enemy, Satan. He always prowls about looking for the best scheme to knock us out of our commitment to and relationship with the Lord. Placing ourselves firmly in the hands of the Lord and using his tools of warfare will help us defeat our enemy who has already been humiliated by Jesus and the cross.

Strengthen me, O God, that I may stand against my foe and triumph by the power of your Spirit so that I may bring honor and glory to my conquering Savior who will return one day and take me home in victory. In the name of the victorious Rider on the White
Horse I pray. Amen.

Dreadful Ending to a Happy Day

I'm really bummed about how OUR reps in Washington are not representing us, but themselves ... this wreaks of back door mafioso wheeling and dealing .... I'm going to bed and pray for our country. I could just smack that big cheeta grin off Pelosis face ...

Something Special

I am dedicating this to someone really special.  You may not believe in how special you are, but if you were alone on an island, God would still be with you because of how very special you are.  Cheer up and have faith in yourself!  Love you much, Abbey

OH ..... MY ..... GOODNESS! I have finally found my widgets and I'm scared to death of changing my background again!! This all started when I tried to download a new background from an unknown site.  She asks that you go to your actual, primary HTML in your setup and download her code.  I didn't think I'd ever get it out of there. Every time I tried putting a new HTML widget with a new background code, it would show up ON TOP of the other one.  I have no idea how I found them, but I found my widgets and I'm not messing with this anymore tonight!

Thank you for the prayers, my beautiful friends! Do you really know how much I love you all?  I REALLY felt your love and I appreciate you all! Hoping you feel my love for you across the miles . . . .

Have a great evening, everyone. Talk to you all "manana"!

So I thought I would just look at some other blog templates on some sites I've never visited ... offering "free backgrounds" ... I downloaded one, clicked on "save widgets" and somehow I ended up with THIS - a "blogger" background and ALL my widgets are gone!

I need a few to calm down and start anew.  Well, that's what Lent is, a new beginning ... how ironic!

I thank Bryn at Celestial Offerings for posting this article. Please keep our Holy Church and Faith, and our Pope, Benedict XVI, in your prayers.

Why the Pope?
Johann Christoph Arnold
March 19, 2010

The recent attempts to drag Pope Benedict XVI into the scandal surrounding pedophile priests in Germany are wrong and destructive. Yes, as head of the Roman Catholic Church, the Pope bears a certain responsibility for the actions of the authorities under him. But this campaign by the media and anti-Christian liberals is hardly a righteous one. It is rather a sinister ploy to undermine an institution that, despite its many problems, is one of the few remaining pillars of reverence and respect in society. Its primary aim is to drive God out of the public sphere, and to drag into the mud everything that is good. It is also financially motivated, and driven by greed and sensationalism.

A Must-Read/Hear

I strongly suggest your read Pundit and Pundette's post for today.  It absolutely disgusts me.  I think I need to pray about this because I am not liking my thoughts and feelings toward Nancy Pelosi.  How does this woman call herself "Catholic"?  And as I commented on the post, how can her priest (if she even attends Mass) bless her with the body and blood of Christ knowing that she consents to abortion of human fetuses?  Dear God, what is happening in the country.  Please pray for our leaders; they are so very misguided that it scares me for the sake of my children and their children.  Please review the video below.

How The Apostles Died

1. Matthew
Suffered martyrdom in Ethiopia , killed by a sword wound.

2. Mark
Died in Alexandria, Egypt, after being dragged by horses through the streets until he was dead.

3. Luke
Was hanged in Greece as a result of his tremendous preaching to the lost.

4. John
Faced martyrdom when he was boiled in huge basin of boiling oil during a wave of persecution in Rome. However, he was miraculously delivered from death. John was then sentenced to the mines on the prison island of Patmos . He wrote his prophetic Book of Revelation on Patmos. The apostle John was later freed and returned to serve as Bishop of Edessa in modern Turkey. He died as an old man, the only apostle to die peacefully.

5. Peter
He was crucified upside down on an x-shaped cross. According to church tradition it was because he told his tormentors that he felt unworthy to die in the same way that Jesus Christ had died.

6. James
Just The leader of the church in Jerusalem, was thrown over a hundred feet down from the southeast pinnacle of the Temple when he refused to deny his faith in Christ. When they discovered that he survived the fall, his enemies beat James to death with a fuller's club.

* This was the same pinnacle where Satan had taken Jesus during the Temptation.

7. James the Great
Son of Zebedee, was a fisherman by trade when Jesus called him to a lifetime of ministry. As a strong leader of the church, James was ultimately beheaded at Jerusalem . The Roman officer who guarded James watched amazed as James defended his faith at his trial. Later, the officer walked beside James to the place of execution. Overcome by conviction, he declared his new faith to the judge and knelt beside James to accept beheading as a Christian

8. Bartholomew
Also known as Nathaniel Was a missionary to Asia . He witnessed for our Lord in present day Turkey . Bartholomew was martyred for his preaching in Armenia where he was flayed to death by a whip.

9. Andrew
Was crucified on an x-shaped cross in Patras , Greece .. After being whipped severely by seven soldiers they tied his body to the cross with cords to prolong his agony. His followers reported that, when he was led toward the cross, Andrew saluted it in these words: 'I have long desired and expected this happy hour. The cross has been consecrated by the body of Christ hanging on it.' He continued to preach to his tormentors for two days until he expired.

10. Thomas
Was stabbed with a spear in India during one of his missionary trips to establish the church in the sub-continent

11. Jude
Was killed with arrows when he refused to deny his faith in Christ.

12. Matthias
The apostle chosen to replace the traitor Judas Iscariot, was stoned and then beheaded.

13. Paul
Was tortured and then beheaded by the evil Emperor Nero at Rome in A.D. 67. Paul endured a lengthy imprisonment, which allowed him to write his many epistles to the churches he had formed throughout the Roman Empire . These letters, which taught many of the foundational doctrines of Christianity, form a large portion of the New Testament.

Perhaps this is a reminder to us that our sufferings here are indeed minor compared to the intense persecution and cold cruelty faced by the apostles disciples during their times for the sake of the Faith. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: But he that endureth to the end shall be saved. Matthew 10:22

I suscribe to John McCain's website and received the following urgent email from him this morning.  Please read it, use the link to find your representative, and if you disagree with the Bill in its present form, please contact your reps in Washington on their District Office to let them know how you want them to vote.  God bless you for voting according to your spiritual belief and moral conscience.

This morning, the Congressional Budget Office released their final numbers on the Democrats' health care bill. They estimate this unprecedented takeover of our health care system will cost taxpayers $940 billion. This bill is full of kickbacks and back room deals, and exceeds the $900 billion ceiling President Obama set last September.

We must do everything in our power to defeat this bill from becoming law. The work we do in the final hours before the vote will make all the difference. Speaker Pelosi wants the House to vote for this bill on Sunday - less than 72 hours from the time I write this email. We have very little time to act.

I urge you to immediately call your Member of Congress to tell him or her to vote "No" on this disastrous piece of legislation. You can find your representative's office phone number at or by calling the House of Representatives main switchboard at (202) 224-3121.

The telephone lines in many Washington, DC offices are being flooded with calls from people like you who oppose this bill. If you are unable to get through to the Washington office, please call your representative's district office or contact them through the email contact form on their website.

Each poll that has been conducted shows an overwhelming majority of Americans are against the Obama Administration's attempt to impose government-run health care. Yet the Obama Administration and Congressional Democrats are doing everything trying to ram this bill through Congress this weekend.

Your representative in Congress needs to know you oppose this bill, so once again, I ask that you take a few minutes right now to call your representative and ask them to vote "No" on government-run health care.

After making the call, I ask that you consider making a donation to my reelection campaign. As you may have heard, I am facing a tough reelection battle and your support is needed so that I may continue my service on your behalf and fight for the things that you and I believe in.

I thank you for your time and generosity. Your involvement will make all the difference.

You Wanted Change; You Got Change

Dear Employees:

As the CEO of this organization, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barrack Obama is our President and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way.

To compensate for these increases, our prices would have to increase by about 10%. But since we cannot increase our prices right now due to the dismal state of the economy, we will have to lay off sixty of our employees instead.

This has really been bothering me since I believe we are family here and I didn't know how to choose who would have to go.

So, this is what I did. I walked through our parking lots and found sixty 'Obama' bumper stickers on our employees' cars & have decided these folks will be the ones to let go. I can't think of a more fair way to approach this problem. They voted for change, so I gave it to them. I will see the rest of you at the annual company picnic.

THIS DAY'S . . .

Oh wow! This Day's Thought is really profound. I don't believe I could ever fully describe what conversion is to a person, what it means to me, but C.H. Spurgeon does a very eloquent job.  Blessings, everyone!

The change is radical-
it gives us new natures,
it makes us love what we hated and hate what we loved,
it sets us in a new road;
it makes our habits different,
it makes our thoughts different,
it makes us different in private,
and different in public.

~C. H. Spurgeon (on conversion)

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts; and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear...

~1 Peter 3:15, The King James Version

I spent the day this past Tuesday with my son,  Kerry and little Cooper.  It was Kerry's birthday and I enjoyed spending the whole day with them.  I even had Cooper to myself for a little while.  Kerry always gets him dressed up before I come.  You can't see his little outfit under the blanket, but he had on navy blue pants, socks and little light blue and white tennis shoes! He was adorable.  It was a sleepy day for him, but I just hold him and watch him, touch his little fingers, kiss him A LOT ... PURE JOY AND LOVE!

(Watching t.v., for about ten seconds!)

There are those who give with joy, and that joy is their reward.

This should give you some relief

1. Open a new file in your computer.

2. Name it 'Barack Obama'.

3. Click to send it to the Recycle Bin.

4. Click to Empty the Recycle Bin.

5. Your PC will ask you: 'Do you really want to get rid of 'Barack Obama?'

6. Firmly Click 'Yes.'

7. Feel better?

GOOD! Tomorrow we'll do Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden....

Especially For My Blogger Friends and Sisters

When I began blogging, it was difficult to find my "niche".  I didn't know how viewers would find me, or if they found me, would they like what I had to say, the music I talked about (which is a passion), or the beginnings of the novel that I still have not taken seriously enough.  I went forever without a single "follower" ... today, I have 25, and out of those, only a handful leave comments.

When I received this from a very old and dear friend named Marcie, I wanted to place it on my blog and DEDICATE it to all of the Friends in Christ that I have made along the way.  You are so, so caring; you notice when I'm having the blues and you show concern, or you just want to say "that was good" about a post - whatever.  I LOVE AND APPRECIATE EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU!

I found my "niche", actually, what I feel is my "calling".  I could not have any better friends than the ones I have made through blogging.  We don't know how one another's voices sound, how we speak and the inflections of our words, but we have the greatest thing of all in common.  We are all dedicated to the Word of God, finding our salvation through the Passion of His Son, Jesus Christ, and our Mother Church.

I am so blessed, beyond anything that I EVER imagined.  I didn't know that it was going to be THIS GREAT or I would have stopped the lifestyle which I had chosen to live a long, long time ago.  BUT, the most glorious thing is that it is never TOO LATE for GOD.  He has been with me since before my birth, and he will be with me for eternity.  That unconditional love is difficult to describe, but I know that my dear friends who are reading this feel just as I do in their hearts.  Thank you for being such great friends, allowing me to lean on you, and giving me more purpose to share His love.  Enjoy the following!

Life is too short to wake up with regrets.
So love the people who treat you right.
Love the ones who don't just because you can.
Believe everything happens for a reason.
If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands
If it changes your life, let it.
Kiss slowly.
Forgive quickly.
God never said life would be easy.
He just promised it would be worth it.

Today is sister's day, send this to all your sisters,
mothers, daughters, girlfriends even me if I am like one.
If you get back 7,
you are loved.
Happy Sister's Day!

Girlfriend and Sister's Week

I am only as strong as the chocolate I eat,
the hair spray I use and
the friends I have.
To the cool women that have
touched my life.. Here's to you!

National Girlfriends Day

Let's celebrate each other for each other's sake!

Be Happy!  It is good to be a woman.

A New Saint For Our Time?

It's official! In an extraordinary move, Pope Benedict XVI himself will beatify John Henry Cardinal Newman this September in England.

This puts Newman one step away from sainthood!

This is immensely important for anyone who is concerned about the state of the culture and the Catholic Church in America. Cardinal Newman would be the perfect saint for our time.

He can be a powerful patron for the renewal of Catholic identity in Catholic education . . . the embrace of authentic Catholic theology . . . and the exciting reunification with Anglican Christians.

In prayer, God allows us to cooperate with His plans for the Church and the world. For this reason it is so important that you join our Prayer Campaign for Newman's Canonization!
Will you please take one minute right now and do these two simple things?

1) Pray the "Prayer for Canonization" below.

2) Forward this message to friends who will help storm Heaven with prayer.

Prayer for Canonization The Cardinal Newman Society (CNS) is the sponsor of the Newman Legacy Project, an effort to preserve and promote Newman's thought and influence, especially with regard to Catholic Education.

This work is done in partnership with the Oratory in Birmingham, England, a small community of Catholic priests that was Newman's home after he converted from the Anglican Church and until his death in 1890.

Very Rev. Richard Duffield, the Oratory's provost, is the Actor of the Cause for Newman's canonization. He also serves as the John Henry Cardinal Newman Distinguished Fellow of The Center for the Advancement of Catholic Higher Education, a division of CNS.

The Cardinal Newman Society and the Birmingham Oratory are co-sponsoring a pilgrimage to the beatification in September, the only "official" pilgrimage from the U.S. that is endorsed by the Oratory.

P.S. Would you please consider a gift to support this Prayer Campaign and all of the work of The Cardinal Newman Society to renew and strengthen Catholic higher education? Please click here. May God bless you!

In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.

~Proverbs 14:23, King James Version

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

~Colossians 3:12

"Wonder what I'll need to wear to that meeting?" Paul reminds us that there is a set of clothing that is always in style. We wear this clothing because we are special. This clothing is from the Ultimate Designer's collection that is called character and is best worn when with other people. These qualities are hard to wear, but always a blessing to those who meet us when we're decked out in this wardrobe.

Abba Father, thank you for bringing me into your family. May I never disappoint you in the way I treat others. May they see in me the qualities of character that can be attributed only to your presence in my life. To you be the glory and the honor, forever and ever, in the name of Jesus my Lord. Amen.

In Defense of Pope Benedict, the Papacy and The Church

Nancy at Be Not Afraid has posted an EXCELLENT piece on the Holy Father and the paedophile story (RUMOR) that the media is using against our Church.  I would implore you to visit her and go to the story linked in her piece, Try As They Might.  Then repeat the prayer of St. Michael.
